About The Position

This position is a Supervisory Health Care Technician II (HCTII) and reports to the Unit 3 Manager at Briarwood Cottage. This position is assigned to a male unit. As a lead worker, the HCTII monitors care of individuals by Health Care Technician I's (HCTI) providing feedback to staff as needed. The HCTII provides direct care services to individuals with intellectual disabilities/developmental disabilities, some of whom have behavioral problems and/or medical conditions. These services are in the form of behavioral programming, habilitative training and activities, and in assisting with health care needs that are necessary. In addition to direct personal care, the position carries out program goals to encourage independent functioning in all aspects of daily living. This position must be attentive to carrying out programs accurately and appropriately; capable of intervening with individuals who are agitated; capable of reporting orally and in writing; capable of assisting individuals if necessary; and capable of monitoring for safety concerns. Direct Care positions require flexibility. Positions are typically given two leave days each week, but these days vary due to the seven (7) day per week operation of the Center. Weekend and Holiday work assignments are included in scheduling. Shift changes may be required for coverage. ALL employees of Murdoch Center are designated as ESSENTIAL for adverse weather and emergency events. About Murdoch Developmental Center: Murdoch Developmental Center is a 24/7 state residential facility located in Butner, NC, near the Research Triangle area. Murdoch serves individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities (I/DD). Murdoch is a caring community where professionals work with people of various ages, cognitive and functional abilities. To be considered for employment, you must be in good standing with the North Carolina Health Care Personnel Registry.

Requirements

  • High school or General Educational Development diploma and one year of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Must be in good standing with the North Carolina Health Care Personnel Registry
  • Must successfully complete the Murdoch Developmental Center "Basic Training Series"; which includes, but is not limited to program library training, First Aid, Nonviolent Crisis Intervention Techniques (NVCI), CPR, Body Mechanics and lifting
  • Applicants must have the ability to pass a physical requirements test
  • ALL employees of Murdoch Center are designated as ESSENTIAL for adverse weather and emergency events
  • Positions in the Division of State Operated Healthcare Facilities shall be subject to pre-employment drug testing and criminal record background checks
  • All employees are required to adhere to the facility's Vaccination Policy
