About The Position

The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) is one of the largest, most complex agencies in the state, with approximately 17,000 employees. It is responsible for ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of all North Carolinians, providing human service needs for special populations including individuals who are deaf, blind, developmentally disabled, and mentally ill, and helping poor North Carolinians achieve economic independence. This position is for a Health Care Technician II Mentor to function as a Therapeutic Support Specialist II Mentor at Central Regional Hospital (CRH) on the Forensic Services Unit (FSU) B0, specifically the primary care unit Forensic Medium (B0). The primary purpose of this position is to monitor patients and perform technical procedures within the scope of practice.

Requirements

  • High school or General Educational Development diploma and one year of related work experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Advanced Physical Skills (APS) certification through the Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) within 60 days
  • CPR certification within 60 days
  • Valid driver's license
  • Listing as a Nurse Aide I by the North Carolina Division of Health Service Regulation (as a special condition for continued employment)

  • Knowledge of principles and practices of a certified nursing assistant (including bio-statistical data such as vital signs, lab work and specimen collections)

  • Ability to work with behaviorally difficult patients while maintaining a safe and therapeutic environment
