About The Position

Grand Junction Regional Center (GJRC) is one of three Regional Centers in Colorado that serve people with intellectual and developmental disabilities who have intensive needs. GJRC, which dates back to 1919, has both Intermediate Care Facilities/Intellectual Developmental Disabilities (ICF/IDD) homes and Home and Community Based Services Waiver (HCBS Waiver) homes throughout the community. The center serves a diverse population, from people who have high abilities but are a high risk to themselves or others to people who have significant medical challenges. The Health Care Technician (HCT) IV plays a critical leadership role in residential services, ensuring a safe, supportive, and home-like environment for individuals with developmental disabilities or dual diagnoses. This position oversees residential programming, supervises direct support staff, and ensures services are implemented effectively to promote personal outcomes and quality of life.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or General Education Diploma (GED).
  • Three (3) years of experience in an occupational field related to the work assigned to the position, such as providing direct care services to developmentally disabled individuals.
  • SBON Psych Tech license (LPT) or Qualified Medication Administration Person (QMAP) required for this position; valid, current and unrestricted.
  • This position requires State of Colorado residency at the time of application (unless otherwise identified in the posting), and residency within the state throughout the duration of employment in this position.
  • Must possess a valid, non-restricted Colorado Driver's License or a non-restricted U.S. Driver's License for positions within 30 miles of the CO state border
  • Out-of-State Driver's License holders must obtain a valid, non-restricted Colorado Driver's License within 30 days of employment start date.
  • TB test is required, requires Influenza and other vaccines as required by state and facility; must be 18 years or older.
  • Pre-employment Physical/Tests - Exert up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 10 lbs. of force constantly to move objects

Responsibilities

  • Supervise up to 15 Health Care Technicians, providing direction, coaching, and performance management to ensure quality care and staff development.
  • Serve as a role model by engaging in hands-on care and instruction in daily living activities to support individual outcomes.
  • Monitor and implement individualized support plans, including behavioral, social, recreational, vocational, and therapeutic programming.
  • Respond to behavioral challenges using approved intervention strategies while maintaining a safe and respectful environment.
  • Ensure compliance with physician, nursing, dietary, and therapy orders, as well as agency policies and procedures.
  • Oversee the residential environment, including safety, housekeeping, and environmental checks, while supporting individuals in personalizing their living spaces.
  • Manage resources such as staff scheduling, transportation, supplies, and budget allocations for assigned homes.
  • Ensure best possible health outcomes by administering medications, implementing treatments, and coordinating with health professionals during emergencies.
  • Complete required documentation and administrative tasks in compliance with licensure and certification standards.
  • Train, mentor, and evaluate staff in required competencies, including CORE skills such as CPR, transfers, Safety Care, and emergency response.
  • Participate in committees, work groups, and in-service trainings to maintain professional knowledge and contribute to program improvement.
  • Act as a liaison between staff, management, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure effective communication and service delivery.
