About The Position
The Health Benefits Advisor position within the Department of Defense is a critical role that involves providing specialized information, counseling, marketing, and assistance services to beneficiaries of the TRICARE/CHAMPUS healthcare programs. The advisor will be responsible for addressing inquiries related to both inpatient and outpatient medical care, ensuring that beneficiaries receive accurate and timely information regarding their health benefits. The advisor will also manage contract arrangements for healthcare services, ensuring compliance with regulations and standards. The role includes providing advice on the various benefits available under TRICARE/CHAMPUS, including information about services that are not authorized by the program. The advisor will assist in coordinating benefits when other insurance is involved, which requires a thorough understanding of both TRICARE policies and the broader healthcare landscape. Furthermore, the advisor will conduct ongoing programs of lecture services and group counseling for various beneficiary groups and organizations, promoting awareness and understanding of available health benefits.
