About The Position

The Health Associate (Part-time) Instructor Pool at MiraCosta College is a temporary position aimed at building a pool of qualified instructors for potential future part-time assignments across various campus locations. Requirements

• Master's degree in health science, health education, biology, nursing, physical education, kinesiology, exercise science, dietetics, nutrition, or public health.
• Bachelor's degree in any of the above AND master's degree in any biological science.
• Valid California Community College Credential in the discipline area or equivalent qualifications.
• Sensitivity to and understanding of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.

• Experience in maintaining student engagement and motivation.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, and develop instructional materials including presentations, lectures, and assignments.
• Teach courses utilizing effective pedagogical methods to meet learning objectives.
• Provide prompt feedback on student assignments and evaluate student performance fairly.
• Maintain accurate course records and submit grades by established deadlines.
• Be available to students for assistance and maintain a flexible schedule to meet their needs.
• Collaborate with faculty and participate in developing policies and curricula changes.
• Attend faculty and staff meetings and contribute to campus life.
• Stay current in academic discipline and maintain necessary certifications.
