About The Position

Reporting to the Academy Supervisor, the Vocational Teacher’s role is to help students learn career area subject matter in accordance with educational frameworks and skills that will contribute to their development as mature, able and responsible men and women. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The essential functions or duties listed below are intended only as illustration of the various types of work that may be performed. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Teaches district-approved curriculum; prepares lesson plans accordingly. Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated. Plans a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests and abilities of the students. Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interest of the students. Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior and work ethic when working on special projects. Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and __in harmony with the goals__establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects and the like to communicate these objectives to students. Ensures accuracy and best practices for compliance of organizational standards. Keeps records and prepares progress reports. Keeps current in discipline and teaching techniques. Participates in professional development and remains current in the field. Any other relative teaching duties as assigned. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE : Three years of full-time employment experience directly related to health assisting is required. A master's degree may substitute for one of three years of experience, provided that the degree includes subject matter related to one or more strands of the Vocational Technical Education Framework in health assisting and/or education. The Vocational Technical Education Framework for this program is available. The required bachelor’s degree (or higher degree) would include at least 30 credits in subject matter related to the technical strand of the Vocational Technical Education Framework in health assisting. A person with a bachelor’s (or higher) degree without 30 credits in such subject matter must obtain 30 college credits in order to receive credit toward the licensure requirements for the required bachelor’s or higher degree related to the subject matter and skills to be taught. http://www.doe.mass.edu/ccte/cvte/frameworks/ CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES: Ch. 74 licensure in the area of health assisting is required. Possession of current MA license as a registered nurse (RN). The position requires the individual to meet multiple demands from several people and interact with the public and other staff. The noise level in the work environment is moderate to loud. Requirements
