About The Position

Reporting to the Health and Safety Manager, the Health and Safety Technician is responsible for assisting with ensuring compliance with MSHA regulations, safety training and education programs, and assisting with investigations into safety incidents. Additionally, the Health & Safety Technician will assist the Health & Safety Specialist with the collaboration with the leadership team to improve safety protocols, coordinate emergency response drills, and ensure all safety documentation is up-to-date and readily available for audits and inspections. As a Safety Technician, you will play a crucial role in maintaining and promoting a culture of safety at the Copper World Project. Your primary responsibilities will include:

Requirements

  • Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Experience: Entry-level
  • Physical: Ability to work in various conditions, including outdoor environments and industrial settings, and lift and move up to 50 lbs. occasionally.

Responsibilities

  • Conducting routine safety audits and inspections to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with MSHA regulations.
  • Assisting in the implementation of corrective actions and safety improvements.
  • Supporting the development and updating of safety policies and procedures.
  • Monitoring training expiration dates to ensure timely re-certification.
  • Assisting with the coordination and logistics of MSHA training courses, including new miner and annual refresher training.
  • Providing support during incident and near-miss investigations by gathering information, documenting findings, and assisting with root cause analysis.
  • Assisting in the preparation of detailed incident reports.
  • Participating in emergency response drills and helping to ensure all employees are familiar with safety procedures.
  • Assisting with the coordination of emergency response plans and equipment checks.
