The City of Hampton is looking for a dedicated Health & Safety Manager to oversee city-wide EHS programs, conduct risk assessments, lead training initiatives, and help shape a culture of safety across all departments. Requirements

  • Extensive knowledge of the Occupational Safety & Health Act of 1970.
  • Bachelor's degree in Safety, Environmental Safety, Industrial Hygiene or a related field from an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of full-time equivalent experience in planning, implementing or evaluating programs in occupational health and safety.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in planning, writing, creating, and implementing programs in occupational health and safety.
  • Three (3) years' experience working with municipal government preferred.
  • Technical writing experience preferred.
  • Asbestos Inspector-Management Planner certification required (will be provided by the employer).
  • Must possess an OSHA 30 certification in construction or general industry (ongoing certifications will be provided by the employer).
  • Competent Personal Fall Protection certification required (will be provided by the employer).
  • OSHA train the trainer training required (will be provided by the employer).
  • OSHA Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) 40-hour certification required (will be provided by the employer).
  • Certified Safety Professional or Certified Industrial Hygienist preferred.
  • Valid driver's license and satisfactory driver's record required.
  • Must successfully pass a background check related to this position.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with municipal government and understanding interdepartmental relationships.
  • Technical writing experience.
  • Certified Safety Professional or Certified Industrial Hygienist.

Responsibilities
