About The Position

As our Health and Safety Intern at The Ohio State University, you will be responsible for providing support to the Environmental Health and Safety Representative. You will assist in all aspects of the ENGIE Health & Safety Program including, but not limited to: assisting with incident investigation and monthly indicator reporting, reviewing and dispositioning of safety Good Catch reports, identifying potential hazards within the work environment, participating in leadership safety walks, supporting employee training, organizing and prioritizing work while handling multiple tasks, and supporting Capital Improvement project risk assessment and consultations. You will work a minimum of 10 hours per week, with additional hours available based on business needs. The internship work term will be from January 5, 2026, to May 29, 2026.

Requirements

  • Junior or senior, or graduate student working toward a degree in Environmental Science or a related field at The Ohio State University
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly word processing, spreadsheets, and database programs
  • Must possess a valid U.S. driver's license and may need to drive a company vehicle
  • Willingness to comply with all ENGIE ethics and safety policies
  • Ability to meet the highest attendance requirements
  • Capable of detecting and understanding audible alarms and changes in noise levels of rotating equipment and portable radio communication
  • Ability to frequently stand, walk, balance, sit, climb, kneel, push, pull, and lift

  • Experience in a related internship or work experience in health and safety
