About The Position

As the Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist, you will provide direct environmental, health, and safety support for the Springdale Paint Plant Industrial Coatings site. You will report to the site EHS Manager and help drive best practices to sustain our EHS mission and vision. This position will have direct safety and health responsibilities and ownership of various environmental processes. Our mission is to drive leading performance in EHS and Product Stewardship to protect and beautify our customers' operations and products, protect our employees, and preserve the environments in which we operate. Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Safety, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3+ years' experience in the EHS field, preferred manufacturing or chemical setting.
  • Experience collaborating with all levels of the organization.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and consensus standards (OHSA, RCRA, TDG, NIOSH, ANSI, NFPA), inspection procedures; Knowledge of RCRA Waste Regulations.
  • Must possess a hands-on attitude.

Responsibilities

  • Actively interact with employees and leadership to promote the PPG EHS culture.
  • Initiate and influence integration of EHS policies and practices into the facility.
  • Conduct routine reviews to ensure compliance with regulatory agencies and PPG EHS requirements.
  • Manage various EHS programs, potentially including performing site inspections for spill prevention, slips, trips, and falls assessments, machine guarding, LOTO, Confined Space, and reviewing conformance to regulatory permits.
  • Manage Environmental Programs including the site RCRA Waste Compliance, Regulatory Water, and Title V Air Compliance recordkeeping.
  • Manage aspects of the EHS training program, including developing effective training materials, delivering instructor led training, training record management and new employee safety training.
  • Provide structure and leadership to ensure the facility Industrial Hygiene plan is maintained and completed.
  • Lead the site's Emergency Response Team, including first aid and spill response.
  • Participate in incident investigations to determine the root cause and implement sustainable corrective actions, sharing lessons learned across the site.
  • Facilitate internal audits and self-assessments. Assist operations in addressing audit recommendations.
  • Actively identify and promote improvements that strengthen the site's EHS programs.
  • Assist in developing a sustainable JSA process.
  • Analyze trends and develop programs based on PPG Standards and best practices to address offender causes for injuries.
