About The Position

The role involves identifying hazardous workplace conditions and taking preliminary samples and measurements of hazardous forces and toxic substances. The individual will remove hazards and/or protect employees by guarding, revising work procedures, and training or requiring the use of protective clothing and personal protective equipment. Effective steps must be taken to ensure that workplace conditions comply with applicable federal and state occupational safety and health standard provisions of any labor agreement, ensuring that all required records are prepared and maintained. The position also includes participation in Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) inspections and in any procedures that may follow a citation. The individual will investigate, prepare, and forward reports on injuries and fatalities, and conduct safe work procedures training courses.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree and 9 years of relevant exempt experience.
  • Master's Degree and 7 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Ph.D. and 4 years of experience.
  • NNS Apprentice School graduate.
  • Navy Nuclear Power School (NNPS) graduate.
  • Associate's Degree or other formal 2-year program and 2 years of relevant exempt experience or 4 years of relevant non-exempt experience.
  • Military Paygrade E-5 or above military experience.
  • High School/GED and 4 years combined of Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience or other relevant exempt experience.
  • High School/GED and 8 years combined of Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience or other relevant non-exempt experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Heavy Industry and/or shipbuilding experience preferred.
  • Electrical experience preferred.
  • Safety Professional Certification preferred.
