About The Position
Action Supportive Care Services (ASCS) is seeking qualified health care aides to provide direct 1:1 student care in a school setting. The health care aide will play a crucial role in assisting with the physical, emotional, health, and safety needs of patients as medically indicated and ordered by the MD. This position requires adherence to agency policies and the health aide's scope of practice, ensuring that all actions taken are within the guidelines set forth by the agency and under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN). The health care aide will be responsible for providing safety precautions specific to each patient, maintaining confidentiality of Protected Health Information in compliance with HIPAA regulations, and promptly notifying the Registered Nurse and appropriate agency personnel of any observed changes in the patient's condition. In addition to these responsibilities, the health care aide will be required to document patient vital signs, observations, monitoring, and care provided in a concise and legible manner according to agency policy. The aide must demonstrate knowledge of proper equipment use and ensure that all necessary equipment and supplies are present for patient care. Recognizing and honoring patient rights is essential, as is maintaining a non-judgmental attitude towards patients, their families, and coworkers regarding lifestyle, race, religion, ethnicity, and personal beliefs. The aide will consistently practice Universal Precautions and other infection control measures as appropriate, while also practicing safe work habits to protect both the patient and themselves. The position requires attendance at appropriate in-services, meeting mandated reporting requirements, and engaging in self-directed learning for professional growth. The health care aide must complete all assigned shifts as scheduled and communicate effectively with agency staffing regarding their schedule. Professional appearance is expected, following agency guidelines, and the aide will perform health aide duties as assigned by a supervisor, demonstrating a willingness to accept other assignments due to changing school care needs.
