Under general supervision, provides basic patient care and works with patients/clients to develop daily living skills. The position involves taking vital signs, answering clients' call signals, assisting in the administration of medications and treatments, and collecting bodily fluids as directed by a physician or nurse. Responsibilities also include bathing, grooming, shaving, and dressing clients, conducting activities for recreation and socialization, and ensuring the safety and security of clients. The role requires feeding clients who are unable to feed themselves, observing and documenting patient data, behavior, and activity, and preparing clients for treatment or examination. Additionally, the position involves providing client care by supplying and emptying bedpans, applying dressings, supervising exercise routines, and assisting clients with mobility. The role may also include providing subprofessional occupational and/or physical therapy services to physically and/or developmentally disabled patients, transporting clients to treatment units, and turning and repositioning bedridden clients to prevent bedsores.
