About The Position

Under the direction of the Director of Healing Services, the Healing Program Coordinator will work to create pathways of healing with survivors. Specifically, the Coordinator will focus on the development and implementation of support groups, healing programming, restorative practices, and any additional healing services the program offers.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree or equivalent work experience in social work, criminal justice, human services or a related field.
  • Minimum two years professional experience in advocacy, case management, or related field; or a combination of education and experience.
  • Experience developing relationships and fostering collaboration among a diverse array of professionals.
  • Reliable Transportation
  • Sensitivity and understanding of domestic violence issues, knowledge of community resources, comprehension of the criminal justice system, communication skills, and ability to advocate for the needs of clients.
  • Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, and measurement of these effects.
  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing effective client service, including needs assessments, meeting quality standard for services and evaluation of client satisfaction.
  • Knowledge of group behavior and dynamics, strategies for effective group facilitation.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to prepare letters, database entries, reports, memos, correspondence, and documentation.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with vendors, clients and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to communicate information and ideas by speaking and in written documents so others will understand.

  • Must have transportation and travel as necessary along with work on-site in community based agencies located throughout the City of Milwaukee.
  • Evening and weekend hours may be required.

  • The ability to communicate and interact with people from culturally diverse backgrounds is required.
  • Individual should have strong communication and organizational skills, be detail oriented and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to make and maintain community connections to resources.
  • Must be able to work together with a team as well as work independently.
  • Requires the ability to operate a variety of standard business machines, such as a computer and the job related software, a keyboard, calculator, telephone, FAX, photocopier, postage machine, shredder, etc.

Nice To Haves

  • A Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
  • Prior experience with group facilitation preferred.
  • Knowledge of the cycle of domestic abuse through direct work experience is preferred.
  • Bilingual (English and another language) is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver client healing programming including one-time events and ongoing series. This includes event development, client engagement, implementation, and staffing. Many events occur in the evenings with some limited weekend hours.
  • Assess current healing programming and develop a plan to enhance programming and offer new, innovative opportunities.
  • Develop new partnerships and maintain existing ones to expand healing programming.
  • Support the development and implementation of restorative practices programming in collaboration with Sojourner staff and project partners.
  • Collect and utilize feedback from clients and staff to improve programming and assist with program reporting and evaluation.
  • Coordinate the day-to-day operations and delivery of support and education groups, including facilitation, referral coordination, group capacity, intakes, and orientations, and provide coverage as needed.
  • Support group facilitators through coaching, meetings, case staffing, and regular communication, ensuring accurate recordkeeping, data entry, and that relevant resources and program updates are shared with group members.
  • Provide group-related case management, including communication with caseworkers, verification and updates, and individual support for group members as needed.
  • Prepare clients for group participation and graduation by conducting intakes, orientations, and referrals to ongoing healing opportunities.
  • Maintain, organize, and update support and education group curricula, materials, and facilitator training resources.
  • Provide individual or virtual support when in-person group participation is not possible, including phone, Zoom, and email support.
  • Provide support to program interns and volunteers as needed.
  • Attend training pertinent to job responsibilities.
  • Must possess basic knowledge of de-escalation techniques and ability to demonstrate when necessary.
  • Participate in program evaluation, improvement, planning and budgeting. Maintain working knowledge and ability to perform relevant screening tools as necessary.
  • Maintain a full understanding of onsite FPC partners including what services are provided and how to make appropriate referrals. Know community resources and maintain active connections to them.
  • Collect, maintain and report client data, computerized and hard copy files.
  • Provide community outreach and education as applicable.
  • Provide support to other Advocacy Programs as needed.
  • Ability to work a regular schedule and have regular attendance at the workplace.
  • Practice agency policies and safety in the workplace.
  • Participate in all mandatory meetings and trainings.
