About The Position

The Lead Housekeeper (LH) works closely with the Manager of Headquarters Facilities (MHF) overseeing all housekeeping operations to ensure the highest quality of cleanliness at the Answers Academy and Answers in Genesis International Headquarters. This position must be able to lead and develop the entire housekeeping staff, coordinate and monitor assigned tasks and/or duties utilizing available staff and volunteers. The LH will accomplish tasks relating to the ongoing operations, predictable upkeep, and preventative cleaning scheduled for the property. They must possess the ability to interact with staff (at all levels) and students in a fast-paced environment, sometimes under pressure, remaining pleasant, flexible, proactive, resourceful and efficient, with a high level of professionalism and confidentiality. Expert level written and verbal communication skills, strong decision-making ability and attention to detail are equally important, and they must work independently with little or no supervision. This position will allow one to impact others through a service mindset centered on making an eternal difference. Requirements

  • Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and janitorial equipment. (SDS & OSHA)

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in supervising and leading a team is preferred.
  • Knowledge of housekeeping operations preferred.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good computer skills, including Word and Excel.
  • Previous experience performing janitorial services and/or light maintenance preferred.

  • Manage day-to-day staffing requirements, plan and assign work, and work with the MHF to establish performance and development goals for team members.
  • Working with the MHF, provide mentoring, coaching and regular feedback to help manage conflict and improve team member performance.
  • Work with the MHF to lead and administer all housekeeping operations to include, but not limited to, systems use and management, budgeting and forecasting, inventory control, department management, policy and procedure implementation, enforcement, meeting participation and facilitation.
  • Oversee the completion of scheduled housekeeping and janitorial tasks utilizing a scheduled work crew of staff and volunteers during an assigned shift.
  • Develop and maintain the standard operating procedures for maintaining the cleanliness of the Answers Academy and Headquarters facilities.
  • Monitor and develop team member performance to include, but not limited to, providing supervision and professional development, scheduling, conducting counseling and evaluations and delivering recognition and reward.
  • Submit to the MHF all purchase requests.
  • Calculate and compare costs for goods and services to maximize cost-effectiveness.
  • Work closely with the MHF to recruit, interview and train team members.
  • Actively inspect all areas of the property to ensure standards are maintained and identify opportunities for process improvements.
  • And all other duties and responsibilities assigned by management.
