About The Position

Primary Purpose Teaching Role Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in the assigned core academic subject to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society. Coaching Role Provide instruction and coaching to develop students’ skills and abilities in assigned sport(s). Contribute to the overall education program and promote growth, teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship through athletic participation. Qualifications Education/Certification Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements Demonstrated competency in the assigned academic subject area Current First Aid, CPR, and AED certification (Optional) Clear and valid Texas commercial driver’s license with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements Special Knowledge/Skills Knowledge of the assigned core academic subject and curriculum Knowledge of curriculum development and instructional strategies Knowledge of coaching techniques and procedures Knowledge of University Interscholastic League (UIL) rules Ability to instruct students and manage behavior in the classroom and athletic settings Ability to supervise student athletes Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills Ability to maintain emotional control under stress Experience Student teaching, approved internship, or related experience Coaching experience or participation in assigned sport preferred Major Responsibilities and Duties I. TEACHING RESPONSIBILITIES Instructional Strategies Develop and implement lesson plans aligned with district curriculum and Texas Education Agency guidelines. Use varied instructional strategies, materials, equipment, and technology to meet diverse student needs. Conduct assessments of student learning styles and achievement; adjust instruction accordingly. Collaborate with special education staff to modify curriculum in accordance with IEPs. Work cooperatively with staff to determine instructional goals and objectives. Plan and assign work to instructional aides and volunteers as needed. Student Growth and Development Conduct ongoing formal and informal assessments of student progress. Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned. Serve as a positive role model and support the district mission. Classroom Management and Organization Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and student development. Manage student behavior in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct. Protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities. Assist in selecting instructional materials. Maintain accurate records, reports, and documentation. Communication Maintain professional communication with parents, students, colleagues, and community members. Professional Growth Participate in staff development activities. Attend faculty meetings and serve on committees as required. Comply with district, state, and school policies. II. COACHING RESPONSIBILITIES Athletic Instruction Use a variety of coaching techniques and instructional methods to improve athletic performance. Organize and supervise practices, contests, and athletic events. Promote teamwork, discipline, and good sportsmanship. Model proper techniques and performance standards. Program Management Establish performance criteria and evaluate athletic progress. Ensure compliance with all UIL rules and district policies. Assist in coordinating travel arrangements for competitions. Drive the school bus for competitions if required and properly licensed. Assist in evaluating and improving the athletic program. Assist with equipment selection, maintenance, cleaning, and storage. Student Athlete Management Supervise athletes during practices, competitions, and travel. Enforce discipline in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct. Instruct athletes regarding NCAA academic requirements when applicable. Take precautions to ensure athlete safety. Communication Maintain open communication with parents, teachers, administrators, and athletic staff. Supervisory Responsibilities Direct assigned instructional aides (teaching role). Assign and oversee the work of student athletic assistants (coaching role). Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university
