About The Position

The Head Volleyball Coach at Susquehanna University is responsible for instructing and developing student-athletes in the sport of volleyball while aligning with the university's academic mission. This full-time position involves coaching, recruiting, and managing the volleyball program, as well as fulfilling secondary administrative duties. The coach will work closely with athletics staff and campus stakeholders to enhance the student-athlete experience and ensure compliance with NCAA regulations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.
  • Two to three years of previous coaching and recruiting experience; NCAA DIII Head Coaching experience preferred.
  • Excellent knowledge of coaching volleyball and understanding of NCAA Division III rules and regulations.
  • Strong organizational skills and flexibility to meet changing demands.
  • Good people skills and the ability to motivate and counsel student-athletes effectively.
  • Energetic, detail-oriented self-starter with strong interpersonal communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • NCAA DIII Head Coaching experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the Head Coach of the Volleyball program.
  • Provide oversight of all operations and programming including coaching, training, and skill development of student-athletes during practice and matches.
  • Evaluate, recruit, and retain quality student-athletes for the volleyball program.
  • Facilitate the operating budget and coordinate fundraising opportunities for the volleyball program.
  • Develop a competitive schedule and oversee team travel, equipment, and supplies.
  • Partner with athletics administrators and campus facilities to address facility needs for the volleyball program.
  • Adhere to all NCAA Division III and Landmark Conference rules and bylaws.
  • Partner with campus stakeholders to support the volleyball program and student-athlete experiences.
  • Hire, supervise, and train assistant coaches as needed.
  • Represent the university professionally to various constituents.

  • 12-month position with hours per week during the academic year (39 weeks) and summer (13 weeks).
