Head Varsity Girls Basketball Coach
About The Position
Aurora High School is now accepting applications for the Head Varsity Girls Basketball Coach position for the 2026-2027 school year. We are seeking a passionate, driven, and student-centered leader for the basketball program. The Aurora Lady Houns have claimed three consecutive district championships (2023, 2024, and 2025) and a Big 8 Conference Title in 2024 and 2025. We are looking for a leader who can build upon this success, foster a culture of teamwork and sportsmanship, and inspire our student-athletes to grow both on and off the court. Aurora R-VIII School District operates on a four-day school week (Monday–Thursday) and offers competitive benefits, a supportive school community, and a proud tradition of athletic achievement.
Requirements
- Prior coaching experience at the high school or collegiate level preferred
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to develop and implement a comprehensive basketball program
- Commitment to fostering a positive, competitive, and team-oriented culture
- Knowledge of MSHSAA rules and regulations
- Ability to collaborate with administration, staff, and community stakeholders
Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee all aspects of the girls' basketball program, including varsity, JV, freshman, and Junior High levels.
- Involvement in the development of a youth program.
- Develop student-athletes in skill, character, and academic achievement
- Organize and execute effective practice plans and game strategies
- Build strong relationships with students, families, and the Aurora community
- Collaborate with the Activities Director and coaching staff to promote overall program success
- Manage program budget, equipment, and fundraising efforts
- Enforce academic and behavioral expectations for all student-athletes
