About The Position

GREATER NEW BEDFORD REGIONAL VOCATIONAL TECHNICAL HIGH SCHOOL TITLE: HEAD VARSITY GIRLS’ SOCCER COACH REPORTS TO: Athletic Director REQUIREMENTS: Must have experience or a desire to work in a diverse school district General knowledge of coaching techniques and procedures Knowledge of MIAA rules Demonstrated ability to instruct and supervise student athletes Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills WORK YEAR: PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: Follows and maintains knowledge of all District policies and procedures. Supports the success of all GNBVT sports programs. Assists instruction and demonstrates skill sets and techniques necessary for individual and team achievement in girls’ soccer. Manage and supervise athletic activities, fundraisers, contests, and practice sessions to promote individual growth in athletic skills, teamwork, discipline, respect, and good sportsmanship. Supports the Athletic Department’s initiative of character development within our student-athletes. Travels with student athletes on the team bus both to and from games. Maintains necessary records and completes required paperwork in a specified time manner for themselves and assistant coaches. Enforces discipline policies and emphasizes sportsmanship and healthy lifestyles. Supervises students in locker rooms after practices and at home/away games and ensures appropriate behavior. Maintains a safe environment and facilities for student athletes at all times. Works with athletic trainer to ensure that medical and safety requirements are followed. Interacts thoughtfully and courteously with students, staff, parents, assistant coaches, and officials and resolves conflict in a professional manner. Conducts pre-season parent meeting and end of season awards night for girls’ soccer program. Ensures that all assistant coaches work together toward a common goal within the girls’ soccer program and develops relationships with feeder schools/leagues. Completes end of season evaluations for all assistant coaches. Works with equipment manager to maintain a current inventory of all fixed assets within the program. Appropriately maintains and secures confidential student records and inquiries. Professionally represents the school and the District in interactions with students, parents, community, staff and the media. Completes and maintains appropriate certifications as required, including MIAA Coaches Certification requirements. Any other duty that may be assigned.
