Position: Head Varsity Football Coach Qualifications: Must hold or have held a teaching license and a minimum of five years varsity coaching experience preferred Head coaching or coordinator experience is necessary to be considered Current & valid Pupil Activity Permit (Coaches Permit) through the Ohio State Board of Education Current & Valid certifications in CPR, First Aid, Sudden Cardiac Arrest, Fundamentals of Coaching, Concussion, & Mental Health Has demonstrated student-athlete and program success at previous coaching jobs Excellent management and organizational skills Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with coaches, parents, students, and teachers Successful BCII & FBI background checks Successful Drug Screen Duties/Responsibilities are listed below, however they are not limited to those listed: Oversee and coordinate the entire football program (grades 7-12) and assist other community feeder programs to insure a successful comprehensive football program Run a football program that always demonstrates dignity and mutual respect Model and instill in the players an attitude of good sportsmanship that builds teamwork and is based on solid moral and ethical values Promote school and community spirit for our football program by attending school rallies and booster, civic and other meetings to market the football program Build positive relationships with student-athletes, parents and support groups for the benefit of the players and the football program Provide a fair due process procedure for student-athlete discipline Promote and develop a good working relationship with all District staff members Promote academic success and student leadership as an important priority for all student-athletes Work closely with the Athletic/Activities Director, high school and District-level administration to build leadership teams to promote excellence in all programming Work with the Guidance Department to ensure that all football program participants and their parents have a sound understanding of eligibility requirements Promote and support our student-athletes with college recruiting and placement Insure a career path for those student-athletes who will not play football in college Lead, teach and evaluate the assistant coaching staff (grades 7-12) in relationship to the goals of the comprehensive successful football program as stated in this job description Work closely with the Athletic/Activities Director to schedule football contests (grades 7-12) Work closely with all booster groups supporting the football program Provide a winter and summer conditioning program (grades 7-12) within the rules of the OHSAA that insures maximum participation and supervision. Abide by the policies and regulations of the Niles City School District Board of Education Perform any other duties as assigned by the Superintendent, Principal and/or Athletic/Activities Director.
