About The Position

Duties include safety of athletes, writing and supervising workouts for various events, presence at all meets and fundraising. Previous coaching/playing experience required.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in either high school, college or both is desirable.
  • Knowledge of strength and conditioning concepts, and ability to instruct players in all facets of sport.
  • Evidence of ability to get along with pupils, parents, colleagues and other citizens.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Directly responsible to the athletic director and head coaches.
  • Coach individual participants in the skills necessary for excellent achievement in the sport involved.
  • Maintain accurate records of squad lists, injury reports, scores of games (report to athletic office and newspapers as requested), incident reports, physical examinations.
  • Be available during the school year to lend assistance in guidance and counseling to his/her team.
  • Recommends purchase of equipment, supplies as appropriate.
  • Oversees the safety conditions of the facility of the area in which the assigned sport is played at all times that students are present.
  • Make regular checks of the safety of all equipment.
  • Enforce discipline and encourage sportsmanship like behavior at all times. These standards are those set down by the principal and head coach.
  • Responsible for enforcing the rules set forth by the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association.
  • Organize and post a daily schedule for the team and assistant coaches.
  • Performs all other duties as the principal may deem to be in the best interest of the sport, pupil and school.
