About The Position

The Assistant Head Teller at Navigant Credit Union plays a crucial role in providing leadership and direction to the teller team while ensuring exceptional customer service aligned with the credit union's core values. This position is responsible for supervising sales and service programs, maintaining security and compliance, and assisting members with various banking transactions and services. The Assistant Head Teller also participates in performance management and training of tellers, contributing to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the branch operations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED) education required.
  • Minimum 3 years previous experience as an Assistant Head Teller/Teller/MSR preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Credit Union policies and procedures.
  • Excellent verbal, written, telephone, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong service orientation and willingness to sell products and services.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • PC proficient including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and the Internet.
  • Ability to function in a financial institution branch environment and utilize standard office equipment.
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 25 lbs. (coin bags).

Responsibilities

  • Provides leadership and direction to the Tellers under general supervision.
  • Delivers exceptional customer service aligned with the Credit Union's core values and mission statement.
  • Supervises sales and service programs to ensure goals are communicated, met, and improved.
  • Maintains security and compliance with the Credit Union Security Plan.
  • Serves as vault custodian, balancing and troubleshooting ATM and cash recycler.
  • Handles escalations and member complaints related to the Tellers' functions.
  • Conducts monthly/quarterly audits and balances the branch at the close of each business day.
  • Responsible for daily and monthly reports regarding overrides and teller differences.
  • Performs teller transactions, both operational and sales-oriented.
  • Opens new member accounts and provides information to new and prospective members.
  • Maintains and services existing members' accounts, including various account changes and transactions.
  • Schedules, trains, and delegates duties to tellers, monitoring their performance through evaluations.
  • Acts as the NCU Financial Branch Champion, qualifying referrals and scheduling appointments with Financial Advisors.
  • Partners with Branch Management Team to conduct meetings and branch campaigns.
  • Assists Branch Management with performance management and employee evaluations.
  • Participates in the hiring process for new Teller candidates.
