About The Position

Social Service Agency located in the St. Louis Metro area is seeking substitute teachers/classroom assistants/cooks in our Head Start Program. This is a PRN position that provides continuity of services to Head Start and Early Head Start participants. Duties include assisting teachers, providing care to children, meal prep and housekeeping. Jefferson Franklin Community Action Corporation is a non-profit agency. We serve Jefferson and Franklin counties. Mileage reimbursement is provided. MAJOR TASKS: Depending on work assignment, Substitute Worker may: The Substitute will assist the School Readiness Coach and/or Inclusion Coach in providing educational and developmentally appropriate learning activities that will enable the child to succeed, including special needs children. The Substitute will assist in preparation of meals and maintain a clean and sanitary environment at Head Start Centers. The Substitute will be responsible to assist in a classroom of up to 20 children, providing appropriate activities and modeling family style dining during all meals. The Substitute will assist in maintaining children's safety in a classroom at all times, following all safety and supervision procedures. The Substitute will provide educational assistance to Head Start children in a home based environment, including creation of individual lesson plans. The Substitute will attend all agency trainings as required. The Substitute may provide other basic support functions (i.e. record keeping, answer phone, etc.) as needed. Requirements

  • High School/GED required

Nice To Haves

  • Associates in Early Childhood preferred.
  • Experience working with low income families, child care, health or education preferred.
  • Experience working in the classroom setting including meal prep preferred.
