About The Position

The Head Start/Early Head Start Receptionist is responsible for providing clerical and reception support for the Family Service Center. This full-time position requires a thorough understanding of the philosophy, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures of the Head Start and Early Head Start programs. The receptionist will perform various duties including managing communications, maintaining schedules, and assisting staff with administrative tasks.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 1 year of work experience.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain a thorough knowledge, understanding, and adherence to the philosophy, goals, objectives, policies, procedures, and standards of the Family Service Center, Head Start, Early Head Start, Louisiana Child Care Licensing, Adult Education, and other appropriate entities.
  • Represent the Head Start/Early Head Start Program at local and state meetings in absence of director.
  • Prepare the Head Start/Early Head Start Newsletter monthly with supervisor and director input.
  • Prepare and coordinate Policy Council correspondence and meetings.
  • Perform reception duties for Early Head Start and Head Start - receive calls, provide information, and refer calls to appropriate destinations.
  • Maintain schedule of appointments, events, conferences, interviews, and other activities for the Head Start/Early Head Start programs.
  • Develop and type various materials such as forms, letters, reports, and memos.
  • Prepare purchase orders and requisitions for materials and supplies for Head Start/Early Head Start.
  • Maintain Head Start/Early Head Start student database including daily attendance.
  • Maintain monthly programmatic enrollment in HSES.
  • Coordinate all Head Start/Early Head Start personnel data on employees and report changes to proper personnel.
  • Assist staff members, answer routine questions and correspondence.
  • Maintain and monitor records of staff attendance and absences.
  • Provide computer technical assistance for staff.
  • Coordinate issues related to bus and van transportation.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by supervisors.
