About The Position

The Head Start Assistant Teacher works under the direction of the Head Start Lead Teachers in our Head Start preschool classrooms, implementing individualized curriculum and ensuring the health and safety of all students. The Assistant Teacher builds trusting relationships with children that honor individual differences, cultural & linguistic backgrounds, and current circumstances.

Requirements

• Enrolled in, or commitment to enroll in during first year of employment, an early childhood education program at a college or university, or Childhood Development Associate (CDA) credentialing program
• One year of work experience in a preschool classroom

Responsibilities

• Instruct three- to five-year-old children in a classroom setting
• Take the lead in managing the classroom during the Lead Teacher’s daily office hours, and whenever the Lead Teacher is absent
• Prioritize active safety and supervision practices

• Salary range starting at $3,393 monthly, with progressive increases to $4,093 monthly
