The Head Start Classroom Assistant will support the classroom teachers in classroom duties, implementing curriculum, development of lesson plans, administering screenings, conducting observations, supervising children, and teaching developmentally appropriate practices, attend training sessions and maintaining compliance with Head Start Performance standards including education, disabilities, parent involvement, nutrition, health and mental health. A range of individualized services in the areas of education, early childhood development, medical, dental, mental health, nutrition, family support, and parent education. SCHEDULE: This position is part-time and non-benefited scheduled to work approximately 20-25 hours per week. COMPENSATION: Hiring Range: $17.00 – $20.00 USD Hourly Compensation will be determined based on education, experience, and skills. If a candidate does not meet Colorado State Childcare licensing requirements, then a candidate must be enrolled in a Child Development Associate credential or Early Childhood Education program. Staff that are fluent in a language other than English may be eligible for additional compensation of $1,500 annually for use of bi-lingual skills. BENEFITS: Please note that this is a temporary, non-benefit position. There is no holiday pay. Employees are able to earn 1 hour of sick leave for every 30 hours worked, up to 48 hours. ESSENTIAL DUTIES: The Head Start Classroom Assistant will be responsible for supporting the Lead Teacher with the following duties: Implementation of Creative Curriculum. Conducting observations and notation of documentation. Actively supervising children. Teaching developmentally appropriate practices and utilize trauma informed care. Ensuring compliance with Head Start performance standards within the classroom including education, disabilities, parent involvement, nutrition, health, and mental health. Partnering with a multi-disciplinary team including mental health specialists, special education professionals, and family support workers to provide the best service for our families. Supporting peers by collaborating and sharing experiences to find solutions together. Will substitute in classrooms as needed.
