The Head Start Classroom Assistant will support the classroom teachers in classroom duties, implementing curriculum, development of lesson plans, administering screenings, conducting observations, supervising children, and teaching developmentally appropriate practices, attend training sessions and maintaining compliance with Head Start Performance standards including education, disabilities, parent involvement, nutrition, health and mental health. A range of individualized services in the areas of education, early childhood development, medical, dental, mental health, nutrition, family support, and parent education.   • Support the Lead Teacher with classroom duties.
  • Implement Creative Curriculum.
  • Conduct observations and notation of documentation.
  • Actively supervise children.
  • Teach developmentally appropriate practices and utilize trauma informed care.
  • Ensure compliance with Head Start performance standards within the classroom.
  • Partner with a multi-disciplinary team including mental health specialists, special education professionals, and family support workers.
  • Support peers by collaborating and sharing experiences.
  • Substitute in classrooms as needed.
  • One year of experience.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Enrolled in a CDA credential program to be completed within two years of employment.
  • Child Development Associate credential (CDA), or State awarded certificate that meets or exceeds the requirements for CDA credential.
  • Enrolled in a program leading to an associate's or bachelor's degree.
  • Currently enrolled in a degree-seeking program leading to an associate's or bachelor's degree.
  • Currently have 12 hours of child development or child care credit hours.
  • One to two years of experience in a classroom or center focusing on early childhood education or development.
  • Experience implementing social and emotional learning (SEL) curriculum in a preschool setting.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • On-site professional development.
