About The Position

The Head Softball Coach at Metropolitan Community College is a full-time, exempt position responsible for overseeing the college's softball program. This role includes coaching the team, managing staff, recruiting student-athletes, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations. The coach will also coordinate fundraising and community service activities, manage the program's budget, and support student-athlete success initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of collegiate coaching experience preferred.
  • Head coaching experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of NJCAA and NCAA Baseball rules and regulations preferred.
  • Experience maintaining a baseball field preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise all part-time staff in the Softball program, including prioritizing and assigning work, preparing schedules, conducting evaluations, and implementing hiring procedures.
  • Coordinate and supervise all operations of the Softball team, including scheduling practices and games, supervising game day setup, and ensuring compliance with NJCAA and MCC rules.
  • Manage Sports Information for the Athletic Department, including writing stories for MCC Sports programs and maintaining the MCC Athletics Website.
  • Recruit student-athletes for the Softball team by attending games, holding tryouts, and conducting campus visits.
  • Oversee and manage the assigned budget, monitoring expenditures and maintaining fiscal records.
  • Manage the preparation, performance, and evaluation of student-athletes, including developing their athletic skills and monitoring academic progress.
  • Prepare and maintain financial and general reports, promotional materials, and other documentation.
  • Support the college's student-athlete success program by collaborating with academic and student support services staff.
  • Coordinate and supervise fundraising, community service, and leadership development activities for the athletic team.
