The Head Softball Coach at Allen University is tasked with providing strategic leadership for the Women's Softball program while aligning with the university's mission and goals. This role encompasses all aspects of coaching, including recruiting, fitness training, practice management, competition preparation, and travel logistics. The coach is expected to advocate for the Softball program within both the campus and the broader Kerrville community, serving as a role model for the high standards expected of student-athletes. A successful candidate will have a proven track record in recruiting students and fostering relationships that support enrollment and fundraising objectives. Furthermore, the coach must demonstrate a commitment to diversity, gender equity, and equal opportunity within the program. Key responsibilities include developing a competitive program within the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference, successfully recruiting and retaining academically and athletically motivated student-athletes, and promoting a successful academic atmosphere. The coach will plan and conduct team practices, prepare schedules for submission to the Director of Athletics, and ensure compliance with university and NCAA rules. Additionally, the coach will manage home contests, make travel arrangements, and maintain a positive relationship with university and community events. The role also involves collaborating with the Director to establish a fundraising plan and managing the program's budget effectively. The Head Softball Coach will also oversee the purchase and maintenance of uniforms and equipment, process business-related paperwork, and promote a summer camp program to achieve fundraising goals. Safety in the university's facilities is paramount, and the coach will monitor these areas to ensure compliance with safety standards. Effective communication with students, parents, and staff is essential, as is maintaining confidentiality regarding all matters within the Athletic Department.
