About The Position

The Head – RTDS Labs will lead and manage the organization’s Real-Time Digital Simulation (RTDS) laboratories located in Dallas, USA and Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, providing advanced power system simulation and hardware-in-the-loop validation capabilities for Digital Energy Solutions platforms. This role will be responsible for building and operating global real-time power system simulation environments used for development, validation, and performance testing of grid automation and renewable control platforms. The RTDS Labs will support project engineering and product development teams by enabling real-time simulation, controller validation, grid code compliance testing, and advanced grid stability analysis for grid and renewable energy solutions. The role will work closely with product engineering, controls engineering, architecture teams, and solutions engineering teams to ensure that products are validated using hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) and real-time digital simulation environments prior to field deployment.

Requirements

  • 12–18 years of experience in industry or academia in any of the following domains: power systems grid automation, or renewable energy control systems.
  • Strong experience with real-time power system simulation platforms and hardware-in-the-loop testing.
  • Experience working with renewable energy plants, grid control systems, or power system dynamics studies.
  • Experience leading engineering teams or managing advanced simulation laboratories.
  • Applicants must be authorized to work directly for any employer in the United States without visa sponsorship or transfer.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the RTDS laboratories located in Dallas and Riyadh, ensuring consistent engineering standards and operational excellence across both facilities.
  • Establish the RTDS labs as global validation centers for grid and renewable automation platforms.
  • Build and lead teams of power system simulation engineers and validation specialists across both locations.
  • Define lab governance, testing frameworks, and engineering processes for simulation-based validation.
  • Design and maintain simulation environments capable of modeling: large-scale renewable plants, hybrid energy systems, transmission network interactions, grid disturbance scenarios and stability events.
  • Ensure simulation environments support hardware-in-the-loop testing for grid control platforms and automation systems.
  • Maintain high-performance simulation infrastructure for large system studies and controller validation.
  • Support validation activities for advanced grid and renewable control platforms including: plant-level controllers, hybrid energy management systems, grid monitoring and automation platforms, wide-area monitoring and control systems.
  • Define real-time simulation test scenarios.
  • Validate control algorithms under realistic grid conditions.
  • Verify system performance during grid disturbances.
  • Support compliance testing for grid interconnection requirements.
  • Collaborate closely with product engineering teams, system architecture teams, control algorithm development teams, solutions engineering teams to validate new control strategies, test complex grid interaction scenarios, improve product robustness before field deployment, support engineering design validation.
  • Collaborate with CTO engineering teams to ensure RHGA product platforms are deployment-ready before field rollout.
  • Support pilot deployments and early adopter programs for new product releases.
  • Establish standardized configuration templates, commissioning procedures, and deployment documentation.
  • Develop simulation environments to validate compliance with regional grid codes and interconnection standards.
  • Support validation programs for markets including North America, Middle East, Europe, and Asia.
  • Establish standardized simulation frameworks for renewable plant control and grid integration testing.
  • Support development and validation of advanced capabilities including: power oscillation damping, fast frequency response, grid-forming inverter coordination, hybrid plant control optimization, distributed energy resource coordination.
  • Support major customer engagements requiring advanced system studies or RTDS-based validation.
  • Participate in technical discussions with utilities, grid operators, and renewable developers.
  • Position the RTDS labs as strategic engineering capabilities for complex grid integration projects.
