About The Position

The Head Racquet Sports Professional plays a key leadership role in delivering an exceptional tennis and pickleball experience for members. Reporting to the Director of Racquet Sports, this position supports daily operations, staff leadership, programming, and member engagement across all racquet sports activities. The Head Professional serves as a visible, hands-on leader on and off the courts, helping ensure high standards of instruction, service, safety, and professionalism while supporting the Club’s strategic goals and member experience initiatives.

Requirements

  • Certified teaching professional (USPTA, PTR, or equivalent; pickleball certification preferred).
  • Minimum of 2–3 years of teaching and programming experience in a private club or similar environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and support a team of teaching professionals.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with members of all ages and skill levels.
  • Proven ability to deliver high-quality instruction and build strong member relationships.
  • Comfortable working evenings, weekends, and special events as required.
  • Ability to understand and communicate so others can understand ideas and information, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to develop and maintain computer records in Word and Excel and other software required by BCC.
  • Ability to develop tracking and report forms in Word and Excel as needed.
  • Well organized and detail oriented.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and excellent customer service attitude and abilities.
  • Must have and maintain racquets certifications.
  • Must be flexible, adaptable, and readily able to adjust to changes in work environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting league coordination, preferred.
  • Event and tournament operations experience, preferred.
  • Familiarity with club management software, court reservation systems, and POS platforms, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality private and group instruction in tennis and pickleball for adults and juniors with a maximum on average of 10 - 15 hours per week on court.
  • Support the design and execution of adult and junior programming, clinics, leagues, events, and tournaments.
  • Assist with player placement, level assessment, and program pathways to ensure appropriate and engaging experiences for all participants.
  • Support junior development and pathway programming in coordination with the Director of Racquet Sports.
  • Serve as a primary on-court leader and member-facing professional, maintaining a strong presence during peak programming hours.
  • Ensure courts, equipment, and teaching areas are properly set up, safe, and ready for daily use.
  • Monitor court utilization to maximize participation and operational efficiency and ensure proper use of courts.
  • Act as a resource for member questions, feedback, and service recovery when needed.
  • Along with the Director of Racquet Sports supervise, mentor, and onboard teaching professionals and support staff.
  • Maintain teaching standards, program consistency, and customer service expectations across the department.
  • Complete staff scheduling and daily coverage needs.
  • Participate in training, coaching, and professional development initiatives for the instructional team.
  • Support the planning and delivery of internal and external leagues, tournaments, and special events.
  • Assist with USTA and other racquets league coordination, team support, and match-day operations.
  • Help manage event logistics, staffing, court assignments, and member communication.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with members regarding programs, schedules, events, and policies.
  • Collaborate closely with the Director of Racquet Sports and other club departments, including Membership, Marketing, Fitness, and Food & Beverage, to support cross-department initiatives and member engagement.
  • Support promotional efforts for programs and events through member communication and on-court interaction.
  • Assist with program registrations, attendance tracking, and basic reporting as assigned.
  • Ensure proper use of scheduling, reservation, and POS systems.
  • Ensure policies, rules, and standards are consistently followed by staff and members.
  • Partner with the Director of Racquet Sports with departmental budgeting, forecasting, and basic financial analysis, including monitoring program performance, participation trends, and revenue relative to goals.
  • Uphold all Club policies, racquet sports rules, and professional standards.
  • Promote a welcoming, inclusive, and respectful environment for members, guests, and staff.
  • Ensure safety procedures, risk management practices, and emergency response protocols are followed.
