About The Position

Position Summary: The Pastry Chef is responsible for assisting in the daily activities of the bake shop, including menu development, inventory and purchasing of supplies, and cost control. Responsible for the production and presentation of pastries and other baked goods. Requires an understanding of federal, state, and local food sanitation regulations. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. Other duties include helping develop recipes and menus, and/or suggesting alternative baking methods.

Requirements

  • Proven ability to lead, train, and inspire a pastry team in a high-volume, high-quality environment.
  • Minimum 5 years pastry experience with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
  • Able to operate and understand all required kitchen equipment.
  • 2-4 year’s Pastry experience in a quality high-volume operation.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and communication skills.
  • Creativity: Constantly seeking new ideas, flavors, and presentations while maintaining balance and precision.

  • Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for all pastry/desert production for the Dining Rooms and other Club functions.
  • Awareness of the quality of goods/food products offered for the preparation of pastries.
  • Collaborate closely with the Executive Chef and culinary team to align pastry offerings with the club’s overall food philosophy and member experience
  • Must be capable of operating efficiently in a high-volume operation.
  • Manage inventory, purchasing, and cost control for the pastry department.
  • Approves the requisition of all products and supplies needed for production of pastries.
  • Ensures that high standards of sanitation and cleanliness are maintained in the production area.
  • Establishing controls to minimize waste and or theft.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned by the Executive Chef or his/her designees.
  • Responsible for genuine hospitality to all members and guests, that compliments the service-centric culture of the Club.
  • Maintains high visibility, regularly communicating and interfacing with Members, both in person and through structured written communications.
  • Is a “Steward of the Brand,” ensuring the intention of the Mission, Vision and Guiding Principles for the Club is understood through actions, practices, processes and through discussions.
  • Takes a “Coaching and teaching” approach to team member development and directs corrective action procedures as necessary.
  • Responsible for hiring, coaching, disciplinary action, and ensuring proper documentation is completed.
  • Focused on continued development of a culture in which all staff are committed creating “wow” moments for Members and guests.
  • Works closely with Club partnerships and approved consultants to ensure successful recruitment, retention and performance of the team members who represent the Organization.
  • Greets guests and maintains a visible and approachable presence throughout the operation.
  • Responds to member/guest complaints and promptly addresses their concerns.
  • Holds and attends regular team meetings for reports, developing alignment across all areas of responsibility.
  • As a “Team Player” of Boca Woods Country Club, the Clubhouse Manager must be flexible and is required to perform any job, in whatever capacity, as requested by the General Manager that may be necessary for the smooth operation of Boca Woods Country Club.
