Head of Simulation

True AnomalyDenver, CO
68d$175,000 - $240,000Hybrid

About The Position

At True Anomaly, simulation is the backbone that connects how we design, test, operate, and train. From spacecraft engineering to real-time situational awareness through our Mosaic ground software, simulation underpins every decision and accelerates every mission. As Head of Simulation, you will architect and lead the development of an integrated simulation framework that unifies physics-based modeling, digital twin infrastructure, and data-driven validation from on-orbit performance. You'll ensure our simulations don't just predict behavior - they evolve with real-world data to continuously improve fidelity, confidence, and effectiveness.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in aerospace, systems, or software engineering (or related technical field)
  • 10+ years of experience developing or architecting simulation and modeling frameworks for complex systems
  • Strong foundation in physics-based modeling, digital twins, and simulation validation
  • Experience leveraging real-world or test data to calibrate and validate high-fidelity models
  • Expertise integrating simulations into engineering, testing, and operational environments
  • Proficiency in Python and familiarity with C++ or Rust for high-performance modeling or integration
  • Working knowledge of orbital mechanics and satellite system design workflows
  • Proven ability to architect cross-domain solutions and lead multidisciplinary technical teams

Nice To Haves

  • Active DoD clearance or ability to obtain one is a plus.
  • Background in spacecraft design, flight dynamics or spacecraft software development
  • Experience developing simulation interfaces or visualization tools
  • Familiarity with front-end frameworks and data pipelines for interactive sim. environments
  • Track record of building scalable simulation ecosystems that support multiple product lines or teams

Responsibilities

  • Own the simulation architecture and roadmap spanning spacecraft design, testing, operations, and Mosaic-based mission training and visualization tools.
  • Develop and mature a digital twin ecosystem that models spacecraft and mission behavior across all phases of the lifecycle - from concept to orbit.
  • Integrate on-orbit data and test results to validate and continuously refine simulation models, starting with first principles to ensuring high-fidelity correlation between prediction and reality.
  • Lead the development of scalable, physics-based models supporting our software development teams, mission architecture and subsystem design team by enabling multidisciplinary assessments in faster than real time.
  • Drive seamless integration across engineering toolchains, test automation frameworks, and operational interfaces to enable simulation-driven design and decision-making.
  • Collaborate with Mosaic product teams to deliver simulation-enabled situational awareness and operator training capabilities.
  • Build and mentor a high-performing team of modeling, simulation, and software engineers who thrive at the intersection of analysis, systems thinking, and architecture.
  • Define and implement standards, workflows, and tools that embed simulation into every phase of the product lifecycle.

Benefits

  • Base Salary: $175,000 - $240,000
  • Equity + Benefits including Health, Dental, Vision, HRA/HSA options, PTO and paid holidays, 401K, Parental Leave
