About The Position

In this strategic leadership role, you will oversee the company’s entire security program, scaling it to meet the demands of rapid growth and increasing operational complexity. You will build and mentor a high-performing security team, develop robust policies and processes, and embed security best practices across all departments. The role involves balancing hands-on technical leadership with strategic oversight, ensuring the protection of sensitive data while enabling innovation and business velocity. You will collaborate closely with Engineering, IT, Product, and Customer Success teams to mitigate risks, strengthen governance, and drive a culture of security awareness across the organization. This position offers the opportunity to influence security strategy at scale and make a measurable impact on business operations and customer trust.

Requirements

  • Proven experience leading security programs, preferably as Head of Security or Chief Security Officer at a startup or high-growth company.
  • Strong hands-on knowledge in AppSec, data security, governance, risk management, and compliance.
  • Experience building and mentoring small, high-performing security teams.
  • Excellent strategic thinking with the ability to develop scalable processes and automation.
  • Outstanding communication skills for both internal and external audiences, including executives and customers.
  • Ability to navigate risk trade-offs and collaborate across departments to balance security with business objectives.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with modern software platforms, cloud infrastructure, and AI/ML products is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and scale the security program, including building a team of 1–3 security professionals, establishing processes, and implementing automation.
  • Develop and enforce security policies, standards, and best practices across all departments and products.
  • Partner with Engineering, IT, Product, and Customer Success to identify, assess, and mitigate security risks.
  • Oversee protection of sensitive data and personally identifiable information (PII) for both internal operations and customer-facing products.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure compliance, manage risk, and maintain high levels of security awareness throughout the organization.
  • Serve as the face of security for internal teams, customers, and the broader industry, providing guidance, documentation, and expert advice.
  • Continuously evaluate emerging technologies, AI, and industry trends to integrate appropriate security controls without hindering innovation.
