We are seeking a highly skilled and strategic Head of Scientific Affairs to lead scientific initiatives supporting the development, substantiation, and global commercialization of nutraceutical products. This role will serve as a scientific expert, bridging R&D, regulatory, marketing, and commercial teams to ensure products are backed by robust science and compliant with international standards.
Requirements
- Advanced degree (PhD, MD, PharmD, or MSc) in Nutrition, Biochemistry, Pharmacology, or related life sciences.
- 7+ years of experience in scientific affairs, clinical research, or regulatory science within the nutraceutical, pharmaceutical, or functional food industry.
- Strong understanding of global regulatory environments and scientific substantiation requirements.
- Proven ability to manage complex projects and cross-functional teams.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience in scientific writing and public speaking.
Nice To Haves
- Experience with global product launches and multi-country regulatory submissions.
- Familiarity with ingredient safety assessments, toxicology, and health claim regulations.
- Prior involvement in clinical trial design and execution.
Responsibilities
- Scientific Leadership & Strategy
- Stay on top of latest scientific trends and developments in Dietary Supplement industry
- Conduct literature reviews, create scientific claim substantiation, and science-driven new product concepts
- Develop and execute scientific strategies to support product innovation, and new product development.
- Serve as the internal expert on nutritional science, functional ingredients, and emerging health trends.
- Research & Evidence Generation
- Evaluate, design and oversee clinical trials, observational studies, and literature reviews to support product efficacy and safety.
- Collaborate with external research partners, CROs, and academic institutions.
- Regulatory & Compliance Support
- Provide scientific input for regulatory submissions, including dossiers, GRAS notifications, and novel food applications.
- Ensure scientific claims are substantiated and aligned with regional regulatory frameworks (e.g., FDA, EFSA, TGA, Health Canada).
- Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with Product Development, Marketing, and Regulatory Affairs to translate science into compelling product stories and compliant claims.
- Support global commercialization efforts with scientific training and materials for internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Scientific Communication
- Represent the company at scientific conferences, industry panels, and regulatory meetings.
