About The Position

Head of School (Berkeley, CA) –Plan, direct, and coordinate the academic, administrative, or auxiliary activities of International Baccalaureate program combined with Mandarin Immersion language program at kindergarten and elementary school; Oversee operations of the school, including supervising both the English and Chinese curriculums and the Primary Years Programme (PYP) from grade 1 through 6; Monitor curriculum, grading, testing, reporting to parents and conducting periodic program evaluations to improve curriculum and teaching including ICT, Sociolinguistics, applying Second language acquisition pedagogy and educational linguistics; Design and develop creative curriculum on second language acquisition pedagogy including foreign language program; Work with the administrative team and faculty to coordinate the development of effective administrative procedures; Observe, evaluate, and assess students' language, creativity, and social skills development in Chinese based on formal testing and performance-based assessment; Manage the school’s annual budget in conjunction with the school board with prudent and fiscally responsible policies, procedures, and practices.

Requirements

  • Must have Bachelor degree in Education or Chinese Language & Literature plus 2 years experience in job offered.
  • As an alternative to Bachelor’s degree, 2 year college study plus 1 year experience in education is acceptable.
  • Require certification in TCSOL, proficiency in Chinese and English plus skills and working knowledge of IB PYP.
