Your missions : The Head of Protein Sciences leads purification and downstream process development for recombinant protein production in Ceva’s biotechnology programs. Reporting to the VP – Pre-Clinical Discovery and Development, this position is responsible for designing, optimizing, and scaling downstream purification processes to deliver high-quality, reproducible materials for research and development. The role requires strong technical expertise, practical experience with chromatography and filtration technologies, and a collaborative approach to build internal protein production capabilities.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Chemical Engineering, or related field with 10–15 years of relevant industry experience in downstream process development or protein purification.
  • Proven success in leading purification development programs.
  • Experience with technology transfer and scale-up.
  • Results-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple projects concurrently.
  • Experience managing related Upstream personnel and activities.

Responsibilities

  • Establish internal capability for early-stage material of protein candidates.
  • Develop, optimize, and scale purification processes using chromatography, filtration, and related methods.
  • Conduct experiments to characterize process parameters, product yield, and purity.
  • Prepare process documentation, development reports, and SOPs.
  • Evaluate new purification resins, membranes, and analytical tools to improve throughput and consistency.
  • Support technology transfer to internal or external manufacturing partners.
  • Collaborate with Analytical and Quality groups to align purification activities with CMC and discovery goals.
  • Manage Upstream activities and personnel.
  • Provide scientific and operational guidance to junior team members.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of internal quality and operational standards.
