Your missions : The Head of Protein Sciences leads purification and downstream process development for recombinant protein production in Ceva’s biotechnology programs. Reporting to the VP – Pre-Clinical Discovery and Development, this position is responsible for designing, optimizing, and scaling downstream purification processes to deliver high-quality, reproducible materials for research and development. The role requires strong technical expertise, practical experience with chromatography and filtration technologies, and a collaborative approach to build internal protein production capabilities.

Requirements

Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Chemical Engineering, or related field with 10–15 years of relevant industry experience in downstream process development or protein purification.
Proven success in leading purification development programs.
Experience with technology transfer and scale-up.
Results-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple projects concurrently.
Experience managing related Upstream personnel and activities.

Responsibilities

Establish internal capability for early-stage material of protein candidates.
Develop, optimize, and scale purification processes using chromatography, filtration, and related methods.
Conduct experiments to characterize process parameters, product yield, and purity.
Prepare process documentation, development reports, and SOPs.
Evaluate new purification resins, membranes, and analytical tools to improve throughput and consistency.
Support technology transfer to internal or external manufacturing partners.
Collaborate with Analytical and Quality groups to align purification activities with CMC and discovery goals.
Manage Upstream activities and personnel.
Provide scientific and operational guidance to junior team members.
Contribute to continuous improvement of internal quality and operational standards.
