About The Position

The Head of People and Culture is responsible for leading the strategic vision and execution of all people-related initiatives to foster a thriving, inclusive, and high-performing culture at Trax Federal Credit Union. This role oversees key human resources functions, including talent acquisition and development, employee engagement, total rewards, compliance, and workforce planning. The position ensures that the credit union remains an employer of choice by cultivating a positive, people-first workplace culture while maintaining compliance with employment laws and regulations. The Head of People and Culture partners with executive leadership to align HR strategies with business objectives and champions a culture of collaboration, inclusion, and innovation.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive HR leadership experience, preferably within the credit union or financial services industry.
  • Minimum of 2 years in a supervisory or strategic leadership role.
  • Experience partnering with executive leadership, Board of Directors, and external stakeholders.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, Organizational Development, or a related field.

Nice To Haves

  • SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR certification preferred.
  • Advanced education or additional certifications in leadership, culture development, or strategic HR management are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Champion a culture that aligns with the credit union’s mission, vision, and values, ensuring a positive employee experience at all levels.
  • Lead and implement strategic people initiatives that drive employee engagement, performance, and organizational effectiveness.
  • Develop, refine, and implement policies and procedures that support business needs and align with employment laws and best practices.
  • Oversee compensation and benefits programs to ensure market competitiveness, internal equity, and compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Enhance the employee lifecycle experience, including recruitment, onboarding, performance management, career development, and succession planning.
  • Establish and maintain initiatives that support diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging within the organization.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to leadership on people-related matters, providing strategic counsel on employee relations, workforce planning, and organizational design.
  • Administer performance evaluation programs and provide recommendations for process enhancements.
  • Oversee benefits administration, including plan design, enrollment, claims resolution, and vendor relationships.
  • Lead recruitment efforts, ensuring an inclusive hiring process and a strong employer brand in the community.
  • Lead the credit union’s training and development function by delivering comprehensive leadership, professional development, and skills-based programs that enhance performance and support employee growth and retention.
  • Oversee employee relations, conflict resolution, and compliance-related investigations while promoting fair treatment of all employees.
  • Monitor and analyze workforce metrics to inform decision-making and improve employee retention and engagement.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, providing proactive guidance on regulatory changes.
  • Serve as the administrator for retirement and pension plans, ensuring compliance with ERISA and other applicable regulations.
  • Oversee recognition programs that celebrate employee achievements and reinforce company culture.
  • Foster an environment where employees are empowered to excel in their roles and contribute to the organization's success.
  • Maintain a high level of integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality in all aspects of the role.
  • Perform duties in compliance with regulatory requirements, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act.
  • Represent the credit union at job fairs, networking events, and community outreach programs to enhance employer branding and talent attraction.
  • Lead and mentor the HR team, ensuring professional development and continuous improvement in HR functions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
