About The Position

Use Your Power for Purpose Reporting to the Chief Development Officer (CDO), Oncology Late Stage Development (OLSD), the Head of Oncology Late Stage Development Business Planning and Integration is a key member of the Oncology Late-Stage Development Leadership Team and is responsible for driving scientific day‐to-day strategic and operational support for the Chief Development Officer, including key interactions and meetings. He/she operates as a senior level advisor and strategic sounding board to the CDO across a breadth of strategic, operational and communications initiatives/activities, deliverables and special projects. The Head of Oncology Late Stage Development Business Planning and Integration also supports initiatives related to continuous improvement of the Oncology Late Stage Development culture and colleague engagement and will lead Oncology Late Stage Development Administrative and Operations staff. What You Will Achieve In this role, you will: Develops strong understanding of our R&D and Oncology strategies, pipeline and capabilities, and leverages this knowledge and scientific background to inform priorities for the CDO Serves as an objective sounding board and thinks ahead to anticipate needs of the CDO including issues that may impact scientific areas or strategy Participate in / lead selected planning efforts & initiatives to facilitate alignment, coordination and implementation of Oncology Late Stage Development internal and external strategy, priorities and related communications Interface with and engage key stakeholders (e.g., Oncology -LT members, Oncology -LT DBOs and other R&D members, Oncology Late Stage Development LT) to manage and coordinate operational and planning needs on behalf of the CDO. This entails planning, developing and implementation of short and long-term business strategies and align -biannual goals to meet OLSD objectives. Support ideation and coordination of Oncology Late Stage Development semester goals and partners with Oncology Late Stage Development LT to advance goals and measure progress Lead a team of 3 Operations Leads with oversight of business planning for OLSD and Translational Medicine lab operations liaison Lead strategic planning and preparation for Oncology portfolio reviews and board meetings, ensuring alignment of portfolio strategy with organizational objectives and readiness of materials, insights, and recommendations for executive and board-level discussions. Supports and provides input as a thought-partner to end-to-end Oncology disease area strategies that integrates translational medicine and biomarker approaches into business planning, ensuring scientific and operational alignment across portfolio priorities and advancing innovative solutions for drug development and commercialization. Drive day-to-day business and operational support for the CDO’s key interactions and meetings to enhance organizational efficiency with key partners and stakeholders Member of Oncology Late Stage Development LT with responsibilities for planning, meeting coordination, agenda management, minutes, action tracking and close out of key complex meetings for CDO. Manage and oversee end-to-end planning of Oncology Development LT and Extended LT meetings and offsites Manage and track commitments by the CDO; execute follow-up activities as appropriate to ensure Oncology Late Stage Development LT and staff implementation. Tracks delivery of portfolio of projects and collaborations against goals and ensures alignment of Late Stage portfolio with oncology priorities. Manages and executes critical meetings, events, commitments and communications to ensure input is provided, stakeholders are informed, and successful outcomes are achieved Manage and oversee select Oncology Late Stage Development related activities (e.g. LT offsites, site visits, Townhalls) Partner with Translational Medicine for lab operations, budget, resource and space allocations at site Ensures best practices are applied to effectively and efficiently advance our pipeline and improve the overall efficiency and operational excellence of the organization Ensures and tracks adequate allocation of resources (e.g. financial, staffing, platform technologies, etc.) in a proactive and timely manner Financial Management: Responsible for financial planning and management of operating expenses (OPEX), portfolio spend, and capital. Partner with Finance to ensure OLSD achieve their financial commitments while maximizing deliverables. Partner with enterprise level portfolio and financial planning; as well as reporting, and translate the OLSD perspective and strategy. Works proactively with PX, Strategy and Finance leads to deliver robust planning and partnerships. Communication and Engagement Represent the CDO and Oncology Late Stage Development organization throughout the R&D enterprise, on R&D committees and other corporate-wide committees as appropriate Ensure requests for action and information from R&D leadership, Pfizer headquarters and external constituents are furnished in a timely, coordinated manner; effectively manage all correspondence and communications involving both routine and complex matters Support planning and management of internal and external communications needs of the CDO (for example: Town Halls, site visits, external appearances, press releases, media coverage, etc.) Support robust communications with Pfizer senior and executive leaders, leadership teams and external contacts Partner with People Experience to design and lead various development opportunities for groups, teams, and individuals Provide advice and guidance to the CDO pertaining to internal events as well as the external environment. Be an objective sounding board Help address and coordinate requests from various Pfizer stakeholders

Requirements

  • MSc, PhD, or MBA
  • Advanced strategic planning, business analysis, communication, and business software skills required
  • 15+ years of experience with a proven track record in life sciences organizational management, strategic, financial, and business planning, operations, and business development (5+ years or relevant experience advising or consulting senior leaders in the life sciences)
  • Demonstrate Pfizer business and scientific acumen; strong project management and multi-tasking skills; ability to respond to tight timelines; proven capability to interact with all levels of the organization in a professional and discreet manner
  • Robust understanding of biopharmaceutical industry, R&D processes, and the external and internal business environment
  • Familiarity with the Pfizer organization (or other relevant organization), particularly R&D/Business Units
  • Demonstrate a fundamental understanding of the pharmaceutical/biotech business and R&D/clinical environment with experience from early discovery through clinical development of therapeutic candidates
  • Proven ability in managing day-to-day Planning and Communication activities
  • Experienced in communicating and interacting with senior internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong interpersonal skills, organizational maturity and ability to develop a network of trusted relationships with peers and other stakeholders
  • Possess a high energy level, sense of urgency, creativity, decisiveness, ability to work hard and well under pressure
  • Demonstrated ability to influence without hierarchy across the organization
  • Ability to work effectively across interfaces and to navigate a complex matrixed organization
