The purpose of this role is to manage operations within a business area, maintaining processes, risk management initiatives, and compliance with relevant regulators. This involves identifying trends and opportunities for process improvement through data analysis, promoting efficient operations, and collaborating with both internal (business leaders, project managers, SMEs) and external stakeholders (vendors, service providers) to align with the bank's objectives and SLAs. The role also entails managing operational professionals, providing guidance and coaching, and developing KPIs to measure operational effectiveness. Compliance with all regulatory requirements and internal policies related to customer experience is crucial, as is fostering a safe environment for feedback and managing attrition. At a Director level, this position involves providing significant input to function-wide strategic initiatives, contributing to and influencing policy and procedures, and managing multiple complex and critical strategic projects. The role requires leading a large team or sub-function, embedding a performance culture, or, for an individual contributor, leading organization-wide projects as a deep technical expert and thought leader. Responsibilities include training and coaching less experienced specialists, providing expert advice to senior functional management, and managing resourcing, budgeting, and policy creation for a significant sub-function. The role also focuses on external environment monitoring, regulatory influence, and demonstrating extensive knowledge of how the function integrates with the broader business. Specifically, the Head of Markets & Banking CDD Operations and Refresh Strategy is accountable for the end-to-end first-line CDD delivery across Global Markets and Banking clients, encompassing client onboarding, ongoing due diligence (including refresh), and exits. This role also involves owning the strategic design and evolution of the CDD refresh model for Wholesale clients. It provides senior leadership for a complex, high-risk client population, ensuring strong regulatory outcomes, scalable operations, and a consistent client experience across jurisdictions. A central leadership role is played in shaping the future CDD operating model, particularly the transition from calendar-based refresh to a risk-led, trigger-driven refresh strategy aligned with Group priorities.
