About The Position

Foundational is building a network of AI-native, autonomous factories for modern contract manufacturing. We’re reshoring critical supply chains so companies can produce high‑quality products domestically, quickly, and at competitive cost. Foundational exists to make reindustrialization practical. Our factories are autonomy-first, reconfigurable by design, and orchestrated by a unified, AI-native factory operating layer that connects design through production. Recent breakthroughs in robotics and physical AI have shifted autonomous manufacturing from a theoretical promise to a deployable capability, triggering a global race to operationalize these systems at scale. The challenge is no longer whether autonomy works, but who can integrate AI-native robotics into real production environments. The ability to manufacture advanced products domestically is now central to U.S. economic competitiveness and national security. Foundational is focused on deploying these capabilities at scale during a decisive decade for American industrial leadership. Foundational was built by executive leadership from Google’s physical AI platform and America’s two largest contract manufacturers. Manufacturing critical products requires trust. The Foundational team has deployed AI systems at multi-billion-dollar scale and delivered thousands of products across hundreds of manufacturing facilities. We are hiring a senior investment professional to lead underwriting, business diligence, and capital formation across Foundational’s core platforms. This role will partner closely with the CEO on both deal execution and investor engagement, playing a central role in shaping Foundational’s investment strategy and capital base. This role requires both rigorous investment leadership and industrial engagement: you must be equally comfortable running financial models and investor decks as you are walking a factory floor. You will evaluate industrial automation investments, validate manufacturing unit economics and potential margin uplift from AI-robotics, and support the capital stack for both Foundational Industries and its investment vehicles.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in private equity, investment banking, corporate development, or an investment-focused role within an industrial operator or strategic investor.
  • Strong underwriting and financial modeling skills, with demonstrated ability to diligence real-world manufacturing economics and assess the impact of automation on cost structure, throughput, and margins.
  • Credibility with sophisticated investors, including experience preparing materials and engaging confidently with LPs, co-investors, and strategic capital partners.
  • Experience or strong interest in industrial, infrastructure, or real-asset investing, with the ability to bridge capital markets and operational execution.
  • Deep alignment with Foundational’s mission to reindustrialize the United States, motivated by long-term impact, ownership, and building enduring platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Project Underwriting: Lead diligence on manufacturing facility acquisitions and automation retrofit opportunities. Build financial models to assess margin uplift from automation and on-shoring strategies.
  • Investment Memos & IC Process: Draft compelling internal and external materials to support deal execution and investor communications.
  • Capital Formation: Partner with the CEO and capital markets team to raise capital from institutional LPs, family offices, and strategic investors across Foundational's investment vehicles.
  • Origination & Relationship Management: Engage with business owners, investment bankers, corporate development teams, and other origination channels to identify and qualify potential opportunities.
  • Execution Support: Serve as deal quarterback during execution—managing cross-functional workstreams, coordinating with legal, technical, and operating teams, and ensuring speed with discipline.

Benefits

  • We reward exceptional outcomes exceptionally. Compensation and equity are structured to reflect responsibility, impact, and results, with meaningful upside for those who help build and scale the business. For those aligned with the mission and motivated by execution at scale, Foundational offers the opportunity to help define one of the most consequential industrial transformations of the next decade.
