The Head of Human Resources will serve as a strategic and operational leader responsible for building scalable people practices that enable business performance, reinforce company values, and support long-term growth. This role partners closely with the CEO, COO, and leadership team to shape workforce strategy, steward culture, and ensure operational excellence across the entire employee lifecycle. This leader balances forward-looking strategy with hands-on execution, bringing rigor, creativity, and data-driven decision-making to every aspect of the people function.

  • Strategic Leadership & Business Partnership Partner with the CEO, COO, and leadership to design and execute people strategies aligned with business objectives and growth plans
  • Serve as a trusted advisor on organizational design, workforce planning, leadership development, and change management
  • Collaborate with Finance on workforce planning, labor forecasting, compensation modeling, and budgeting
  • People Operations & Compliance Oversee all people operations including HR operations, compliance, payroll, benefits, employee relations, and total rewards
  • Oversee administration of benefits programs including self-funded medical, dental, disability, 401(k), and ESOP
  • Ensure accurate, compliant payroll processing, compensation cycles, and benefits administration
  • Own HR compliance across all geographies, ensuring policies, procedures, and practices are legally sound and scalable
  • Lead the development, review, and maintenance of HR policies in accordance with federal and state regulations
  • Conduct regular audits of people processes to proactively identify risk and drive continuous improvement
  • Talent, Performance & Growth Own the full employee lifecycle—from onboarding through development, performance management, and offboarding
  • Build and maintain career pathing and leveling frameworks across corporate and field teams
  • Design equitable compensation structures, geo-based pay models, incentive plans, and competitive benefits offerings
  • Develop and execute retention strategies that keep top talent engaged and invested
  • Technology, Data & Analytics Select, implement, and optimize people systems (HRIS, ATS, payroll, performance, and engagement tools) to support scale and efficiency
  • Leverage people analytics and workforce data to evaluate trends, measure engagement, and inform strategic decisions
  • Champion the use of emerging technology and AI tools to automate workflows, enhance insight, and improve employee experience
  • Culture, Engagement & Employee Experience Define and steward the company’s cultural vision, values, and behaviors
  • Embed core values into all aspects of the employee experience
  • Lead employee listening initiatives (engagement surveys, pulse checks, frontline feedback) and translate insights into action
  • Build recognition programs, communication frameworks, and experience-driven initiatives that foster belonging and connection
  • Plan and lead culture-building and engagement initiatives aligned with business priorities
  • 10+ years of progressive HR experience, including deep expertise in benefits, employee relations, performance management, and compliance
  • 5+ years in a senior leadership role with demonstrated ability to build and lead high-performing teams
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field preferred
  • SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR certification strongly preferred
  • Familiarity with Employee Stock Ownership Plans (ESOPs) and self-funded insurance plans strongly preferred
  • Strong business acumen with a proven ability to connect people initiatives to operational and financial outcomes
  • Decisive, hands-on leader capable of setting strategy while executing with urgency and precision
  • High level of fluency in HR systems, people analytics, and emerging technology (including AI-enabled tools)
  • Demonstrated experience designing equitable compensation, leveling frameworks, and growth pathways
  • Deep knowledge of employment law, HR compliance, and best practices across jurisdictions
  • Exceptional judgment, discretion, and ability to handle sensitive matters with confidentiality
  • Self-starter with adaptability, resilience, and a proactive problem-solving mindset
  • Strong executive presence and ability to influence, align, and partner across the organization
  • Experience in material handling, manufacturing, or heavy equipment environments is a plus
