Head of Engineering Who you are A seasoned, startup-centric Head of Engineering, who can be a player, a coach and a sounding board of a multi-disciplinary engineering. You understand the importance of reliable monitoring, deployment strategies, and a highly scalable and robust cloud infrastructure You have experience designing, building, and running engineering teams that have focused on the previous bullet points. You can quickly iterate with product and design teams as part of a tight user-validated feedback loop and have experience in agile and ability to work with product to define a version-based roll out scenarios You have experience with best practices and patterns that allow the most skilled engineering teams to communicate effectively and deliver quickly and regularly. What you’ll do: You will help your team build problem-solving skills by practicing reflective listening, asking good questions, and giving timely, direct, and kind feedback and encouragement. Recruit, engage, and retain great problem-solvers and collaborators. Roll up your sleeves to create new processes and keeps up with the industry trends and identify new tools to use to solve technical problems. Manage risks, dependencies, and tradeoffs inevitable in complex project delivery Work hand-in-hand with technical leads and experts
Requirements
- Data Engineering: experience with Python, Prefect, Dask, Parquet, AWS (S3, Glue/Athena, RDS)
- Core/Full-Stack Engineering: experience with AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, Gitlab CI, Terraform, Golang (Google Protobuf), Postgesql, TimescaleDB, React, Redux
- Experience with microservices
- Expert-level understanding of engineering best practices for full software development life cycle, including coding & security standards, code review, source control, build, QA, deployment and development operations (Prior, hands-on experience as an engineer required).
- Broad knowledge of programming languages, software architecture, design and advanced data systems.
- Bring a high level of technical expertise, guidance, and strategic decision making to key areas including web infrastructure, microservices architecture, machine learning, and its orchestration, data pipelines, DevOps, CI/CD, internal tools
Nice To Haves
- Experience working in a startup environment or a fintech company
- Experience building APIs geared towards developers/financial institutions
- Experience with HTTP APIs, scalable cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred), Internet Security & Privacy mechanisms, Microservices Orchestration experience, Kubernetes
