About The Position

Keycard is seeking a Head of Engineering who is excited to build at the forefront of agent-native infrastructure from 0 -> 1 and then scale 1 -> 100 by playing a pivotal role in shaping our technical strategy and creating a company that delivers category-defining product and technology with execution excellence. An ideal candidate can both dive-deep into technical matters as a hands-on leader translating strategic vision into actionable plans while being able to step back to think strategically and build the engineering systems we need to invest in to scale our technology, team, and delivery capacity. You will collaborate closely with the founders, investors, and the broader team to define company strategy, guide technical and product direction, and cultivate a culture of innovation, craftsmanship, delivery, and engineering excellence while working to build a strong culture of execution across the company as a whole.

• Experience founding or being an early leader at a startup.
• Proven success building engineering organizations from the ground up.
• A career path that began as a hands-on individual contributor and grew into an engineering leader.
• Leadership experience designing, building, and operating large-scale developer infrastructure.
• Background in machine learning, at-scale data systems.
• A passion for open-source ecosystems.

Responsibilities

• Lead and Empower the Team — Engage deeply in technical discussions, champion collaboration, and create space for autonomy and mastery.
• Bridge Vision and Execution — Translate product vision and strategy into clear, actionable engineering roadmaps.
• Cultivate Engineering Systems — Partner with the founders and broader team to define our development ethos and guide strategic decision-making.
• Evolve with the Company — Be ready to adapt your role as Keycard grows, jumping in hands-on when needed.
• Build the Organization — Work with founders, investors, and the team to scale both the engineering org and the company.
