About The Position

Ready to spearhead design innovation at the intersection of high fashion and AI? SPREEAI – a fast-growing, innovative startup blending high fashion with cutting-edge technology – is looking for a visionary Head of Design & UX to elevate our product and brand experiences . This full-time leadership role is based in New York City and reports directly to the CEO. You will set the design strategy and also roll up your sleeves as an individual contributor, building our design function from the ground up and crafting world-class user experiences across all platforms. At SPREEAI, we’re on a mission to redefine the retail landscape with lifelike AI-driven try-on technology and hyper-personalized shopping experiences . As Head of Design, you’ll be at the heart of this bold mission – working closely with our founders and cross-functional leaders – and have the chance to shape how the world experiences fashion through SPREEAI’s platform.

Requirements

• Experienced Design Leader: 8+ years of experience in UI/UX and visual design, including success in a senior or lead design role. You have a proven track record of delivering beautiful, user-centric digital products and ideally have built or led design teams.
• Strategic + Hands-on: You can zoom out to define a vision and design strategy, and also dive in to create pixel-perfect designs yourself. You thrive in both leadership and individual contributor modes, and you’re not afraid to do the design work alongside your team.
• User-Centric & Insightful: Deep understanding of user-centered design principles, usability, and information architecture. You excel at translating complex ideas into simple, intuitive interfaces and base your decisions on user research and data whenever possible.
• Visual & Brand Savvy: Exceptional visual design sensibility with an eye for typography, color, and layout. You know how to build an aspirational brand presence and make products not just usable, but visually stunning and aligned with a luxury fashion vibe.
• Collaborative Communicator: Excellent communication and teamwork skills. You can articulate design rationale clearly, inspire cross-functional partners, and work closely with engineering, product, marketing, and partnership teams to get things built. You build strong relationships and foster a shared vision.
• Entrepreneurial & Action-Oriented: A self-starter who takes initiative and moves quickly. You’re comfortable with ambiguity and resourcefully solve problems to keep projects on track. Bias for action is in your DNA – when you see an opportunity, you seize it and iterate.

• Passion for Fashion Tech: You’re genuinely excited about working at the intersection of fashion and technology . A love for luxury fashion and next-gen retail experiences (AR/VR, virtual try-ons, AI stylists, etc.) is a big plus – it means you understand our world and what inspires our users.

Responsibilities

• Design Vision & Strategy: Define and drive the overall design vision for SPREEAI, aligning design strategy with company objectives and product roadmaps at the executive level. Partner with leadership to infuse user-centered design thinking into product strategy and key decisions.
• End-to-End UX Design: Own the user experience across all digital touchpoints – web, mobile app, and in-store interactive platforms. Create intuitive, elegant UI/UX designs that make our AI-driven features (like virtual try-ons) simple and delightful for users.
• Visual Identity & Branding: Develop and maintain SPREEAI’s visual identity and design guidelines. Ensure a cohesive, premium look-and-feel across all brand touchpoints, from product UI to marketing communications, consistent with a luxury fashion aesthetic.
• Marketing & Social Media Design: Collaborate with marketing to produce engaging visual content for social media, email campaigns, in-store displays, and other marketing initiatives. Translate our brand and product story into compelling graphics, visuals, and campaign concepts.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with product managers, engineers, partnerships, marketing, and executive leadership to translate business goals and user feedback into impactful design solutions. Advocate for the user at every step and ensure design and engineering are in sync throughout the development process.
• Design Quality & Consistency: Establish design standards, systems, and best practices that enable rapid iteration without sacrificing quality. Uphold a high bar for design craft and consistency across all surfaces, implementing processes (e.g. design reviews, prototyping, user testing) to continuously improve the user experience.
• Team Leadership & Growth: Lead and mentor a small design team (initially a team of one), fostering a creative and collaborative culture. As we grow, hire and develop additional design talent, building out a world-class design and UX team.
• Innovation & Trendspotting: Stay on top of industry and design trends, especially in fashion, retail, and emerging technologies. Experiment with new ideas, tools, and techniques (AR/VR, AI-driven design, etc.) to keep SPREEAI at the cutting edge of next-gen retail experiences.
