About The Position

The responsibilities for the Flamingo Main Showroom Head of Audio (A1/Audio Board Operator) include, but are not limited to: The Head of Sound is responsible for overseeing the sound system and show operations for the Flamingo Main Showroom at the Flamingo Hotel. It entails the loading in, running and loading out of our two resident shows as well as any one-off shows. The Head of Department is responsible for the sound system maintenance, sound crew and execution of sound cues of the venue to ensure a successful and safe production. They must know how to perform a daily general check of the Audio system and its equipment within the Showroom. They must be able to multitask and adapt, watching the show and artists movements, with the ability to adjust cues as needed. The head of department should be calm under pressure and be able to guide the department through troubleshooting while clearly keep production and management appraised of any situations that arise.

Requirements

IATSE 720 member who is "A" List
Degree in Technical Theater preferred. 8 years of experience in setup and operation of sound systems. 4 years of supervisory experience or relevant training preferred. Bachelor's degree preferred. In depth knowledge of sound systems for clubs, and large venues.
Must possess excellent skills in crew management, project management and problem-solving skills.
Able to work with the Technical Manager/ Technical Director, and all other heads of department like lighting and video.
Able to work with numerous and diverse cast members and crew to troubleshoot operational show issues calmly and clearly communicate needs/expectations with others.
Must be able to Operate, program, and maintain DigiCoSD5
Operate, maintain, program, and troubleshoot Qlab
Be knowledgeable and able to Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot Freespeak II Clear Com System
Clearly monitor the audio system and schedule and attend work calls for general daily maintenance such as Audio maintenance, Amp rack equipment, speakers, Microphones, RF, comm, work areas, and other general equipment repair.
Willing to take work calls for rehearsals and other special events.
Work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays
Able to work 6 days a week on a long-term basis.
Ability to lift 50lbs
Ability to go up and down stairs as frequently as needed based on changing production needs and work calls
Maintain flexibility in a dynamic show environment and demonstrate a willingness to support the team with changes.
Ability to work at heights when doing maintenance or doing cable runs
High level of mobility, including regularly going up and downstairs and standing/moving for 90+ minute intervals
OSHA 10 certification required, OSHA 30 a plus
Ability to operate a Yamaha PM5D and be responsible for the in-ear monitor mix for the principle performers

Responsibilities

Leading the sound team in accomplishing departmental goals.
Supervise and participate in the setup of sound for our resident shows and any one off's.
Keep the sound plot and technical packet up to date.
Train subordinates, providing each with the knowledge, development and appropriate direction to perform their responsibilities.
Reviews show schedule and work with the Technical Manager to schedule staff accordingly.
Works with the Technical Manager on operating and capital budgets for the Sound Department, inclusive of tracking gear/system replacements
Help Technical Manager Generate event estimates for special events or ongoing resident shows based on predicted workload, load in/out proposed schedules.
Ensure that expendables are tracked and coordinates the ordering of new expendables.
Responsible for the repairs and maintenance of the venue's sound equipment and coordination of ordering supplies.
Make recommendations to improve the venue's sound and production.
Create and maintain maintenance logs and procedures as needed.
Lead show changes, installations, and modifications as needed.
Coordinate all safety, OSHA and risk management initiatives.
Works with Technical Manager on advancing performance dates, interpreting technical riders and arranging for sound equipment in order to fulfill contract and rider requirements.
Supervises load-in, set-up, sound checks, show performance, strike, and load outs
Coordinates with personnel from multiple departments to ensure seamless, exciting events for our guests.
Performs other duties as assigned by the Technical Manager
