Position Summary Franklin Templeton is seeking a strategic and execution-focused Head of Client & Business Strategy to support Global Insurance & Institutional Asset Solutions (GIIAS). This is a senior leadership role responsible for driving alignment, operational excellence, and strategic integration across four core pillars of the business: Insurance General Account Official Institutions Treasury Officers Emerging Web3 Ecosystems This COO will serve as a key partner to the Head of GIIAS, ensuring these four teams are effectively integrated with appropriate touch points across the broader Franklin Templeton organization and cohesively connected to each other under an ethos of best-in-class institutional investing. This role will help streamline processes, enhance collaboration, and enable client-facing teams to maximize success with insurance companies, sovereign and public institutions, corporate treasury teams, and investors in digital assets. The ideal candidate will bring at least 15 years of experience in asset management, insurance leadership, institutional investment management, or related financial services fields.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in asset management, insurance leadership, institutional investment management, or related financial services.
  • Senior leadership experience in a Business Strategy, Client Strategy, Head of Business Management, or comparable strategic operating role.
  • Deep understanding of at least one of the following segments: insurance general accounts, sovereign/official institutions, corporate treasury investing, or digital asset investment platforms.
  • Experience operating within a complex, global, matrixed organization.
  • Strong financial acumen and experience managing business performance and resource allocation.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive cross-functional initiatives and enterprise integration.
  • Exceptional organization, communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence senior levels.
  • Strategic thinker with strong execution discipline.
  • Highly collaborative and adept at navigating matrixed environments.
  • Operationally rigorous with a focus on scalability and efficiency.
  • Client-centric with a clear understanding of institutional market dynamics.
  • Resilient and adaptable in evolving and growth-oriented environments.

Responsibilities

  • Client Strategy and Business Development Support Work closely with head of GIIAS to drive strategic planning and research and work with client teams to help develop specific strategic client plans and targeting strategies.
  • Identify potential obstacles to the growth strategy and develop strategic initiatives to address or mitigate issues for implementation Track, measure, perform impact assessments to enable the GIIAS team to refine strategy, as necessary and achieve maximum success
  • The ideal hire will have a personal network of senior executives who could become potential client contacts or introduce FT to key personnel at their organizations.
  • Strategic Partnership & Business Execution Serve as a trusted advisor and strategic partner to the Head of GIIAS.
  • Translate strategic priorities into coordinated operating plans within GIIAS and with key partners in the broader Global Client Group and across the firm.
  • Drive execution against growth, client engagement, and platform expansion objectives, particularly for requirements that are specific to GIIAS clients.
  • Support long term and strategic account planning, process design especially in new product areas and business scalability.
  • Integration Across the Four Pillars Connect the four underlying teams into a unified operating framework that is best-in-class while respecting the distinct needs of each client segment.
  • Foster collaboration and knowledge-sharing across GIIAS and with other teams such as Marketing, Regional teams, GCG COO, Investment teams and Corporate functions.
  • Ensure consistency in governance, reporting, and strategic alignment across the pillars.
  • Promote cross-pillar opportunities to enhance client value and commercial impact.
  • Enterprise Alignment & Cross-Functional Coordination Ensure seamless integration of the GIIAS within Franklin Templeton’s broader global platform.
  • Partner closely with Investments, Marketing, Product, Distribution, Technology, Operations, Risk, Compliance, Legal, and Finance to align business priorities and execution.
  • Reduce organizational friction and eliminate silos to create efficient and transparent processes.
  • Represent the Global Head and the business in certain enterprise-wide initiatives and forums.
  • Operational Excellence & Process Optimization Design and implement scalable operating models that enhance efficiency while supporting growth.
  • Standardize processes where appropriate to create a streamlined experience for client teams and internal stakeholders.
  • Establish clear KPIs, reporting frameworks, and governance routines.
  • Identify operational risks and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Client Enablement & Commercial Support Enhance coordination across investment, product, and distribution functions to support differentiated client solutions.
  • Ensure seamless execution across onboarding, servicing, reporting, and product delivery.
  • Align operating infrastructure to meet the evolving needs of insurance balance sheets, sovereign and public institutions, treasury organizations, and digital asset investors.
  • Support strategic initiatives that expand the firm’s presence in institutional and insurance markets.
  • Financial Management & Resource Allocation Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and business performance tracking in partnership with Finance.
  • Drive disciplined resource allocation aligned with strategic priorities.
  • Lead productivity and efficiency initiatives across the platform.
  • Leadership & Culture Build and lead a high-performing business management and operations team.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Champion Franklin Templeton’s values and enterprise mindset across the group.
