We are looking for a Head of Category Management to join our Merchandising Team. This individual will report into our Vice President of Merchandising and will lead a team of Senior Category Managers, Category Managers, and Associates. This individual will provide strategic leadership for the Category Management function, overseeing category strategy, financial performance, vendor partnerships, and team development. They will also set long‑term team vision, drive enterprise‑level initiatives, and ensure category strategies align with organizational goals. This remote position is open to individuals who live in, or are open to relocating to, the following states: Arizona, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, and Washington. This position requires travel to our headquarters in Melville, NY 6 times per year for internal meetings and team building activities. Additional travel may be required based on department and company needs. We reimburse reasonable and necessary travel expenses, and you’re also welcome to work on-site anytime beyond these visits – our doors are always open. Role Type: Full-Time, Exempt Location: Remote Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. EST Base Salary: $105,000 – $130,000 per year

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Merchandising, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience)
  • ​A minimum of 8 years of experience in Merchandising and product development
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with the ability to interpret data and make informed recommendations
  • Advanced experience in Microsoft Excel and retail systems
  • Experience leading remote team members
  • Demonstrated success leading teams and driving strategic, financial, and operational outcomes
  • Strong executive presence, communication skills, and strategic thinking
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and project management skills
  • Critical and creative thinking skills in dealing with an everchanging environment
  • Statistical analysis and data manipulation skills
  • Proven ability to prioritize and meet deadlines while remaining flexible in a high growth environment
  • Proven ability to lead strategy, influence stakeholders, and drive financial results
  • Ability to work well both independently and in a team setting

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high‑performing category management team

  • Enterprise‑Level Category Management
  • Oversee category strategies across multiple product areas, ensuring consistency and strategic alignment
  • Approve major assortment decisions, vendor partnerships, and product launches
  • Drive cross‑category initiatives that improve customer experience and financial performance
  • Vendor & Partner Strategy
  • Lead strategic vendor negotiations, joint business planning, and long‑term partnership development
  • Build relationships with key suppliers, industry partners, and executive‑level stakeholders
  • Financial & Market Leadership
  • Own category financial performance, including revenue, margin, and profitability targets
  • Oversee category forecasting, financial modeling, and long‑range planning
  • Monitor market trends and competitive dynamics to inform strategic decisions
  • Cross‑Functional & Executive Influence
  • Partner with senior leaders across Marketing, Sales, Supply Chain, Finance, and Operations to drive enterprise initiatives
  • Present category strategies, business cases, and performance updates to executive leadership
  • Influence organizational priorities through data‑driven insights and strategic recommendations
