Position Overview: We’re hiring a Head of Broker Relations to build this function and to be the face of our PM sell side relationships. This is a greenfield role. We are looking for a builder, someone who is energized by the chance to design a function from the ground up, earn the trust of our portfolio managers, trading desk and treasury group to establish best practices that will scale with the firm. The Director will begin as an individual contributor and is expected to build a small team over time. The role reports directly to the Chief Operating Officer and requires close, day to day coordination with our trading desk, treasury function, PMs, and PM oversight team.

Requirements

  • 8+ years in broker relations, sell-side coverage or a closely related role at a hedge fund, long-only manager or bulge bracket firm
  • Expert knowledge of commission wallet management, broker votes and corporate access.
  • Solid understanding of prime brokerage: service levels, financing terms and cap intro
  • Strong communicator and relationship builder, equally effective with internal stakeholders and external counterparties
  • Comfortable in a build out environment where not everything is defined yet
  • Highly organized, able to manage competing priorities without dropping the ball.

Nice To Haves

  • Strong working relationships with larger sell side banks and brokers
  • Familiarity with broker CRM and commission tracking platforms
  • Experience building teams. Knowledge of the compliance landscape around broker interactions, soft dollars and gifts and entertainment
  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or CFA a plus

Responsibilities

  • Build the corporate access function from the ground up. You’ll be the primary point of contact between our PMs and sell-side coverage for meetings, roadshows, site visits and conferences
  • Manage all the logistics: prioritizing access requests and scheduling.
  • Track delivery by broker and factor it into wallet allocation
  • Partner closely with trading to align on wallet allocation. Brokers should hear one consistent voice from SummitTX
  • Develop and drive the commission wallet strategy and run the semi-annual broker vote from design through execution
  • Build and maintain broker scorecards, translate vote results into allocation decisions and own all communication back to coverage officers
  • Maintain commission tracking and produce regular reporting for senior leadership on wallet distribution, trends and relationship health
  • Work with our Head of Treasury & Ops and to help define how we manage our four prime broker relationships.
  • Coordinate cap intro activity with IR, track introductions generated by each prime and factor performance into wallet decisions
  • This role sits at the intersection of trading, treasury and PM oversight. Success requires someone who is as effective inside the firm as they are with external brokers.
  • Build real relationships with our PMs, trading desk and senior leadership. This role works across the firm and requires genuine trust.
  • Own compliance documentation for broker interactions, soft dollars and Gifts & Entertainment, and keep CRM records current.
