About The Position

The Head of Audio at Wolf Trap Foundation is responsible for overseeing all audio operations at the Filene Center, ensuring high-quality sound reinforcement for a variety of performances. This seasonal role requires leadership in managing a team of audio technicians, coordinating with production staff, and maintaining audio equipment to deliver flawless sound for events ranging from small acoustic sets to large concerts. The position demands flexibility in scheduling and a commitment to the summer season, with a focus on collaboration and technical excellence.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent, transferrable experience.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older and available for varied hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Extensive experience in professional live audio engineering, including leadership roles.
  • Demonstrated professionalism at its highest level.
  • Proven team leader with a positive presence and good working attitude.
  • Expertise in digital audio consoles (preferably Digico SD7, SD5, SD11, and SD8).
  • Advanced troubleshooting, electronics repair, networking, and system integration skills.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills to manage a diverse team.

  • Lift Certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary audio contact for all Filene Center events, ensuring flawless sound delivery.
  • Attend and contribute to weekly scheduling meetings with Production Managers and Director of Production.
  • Coordinate with local and touring personnel to meet production needs and ensure a seamless performance.
  • Assist with the load-in, setup, operation, and load-out of events, including cross-departmental work.
  • Manage and maintain the venue's Meyer Lyon system and other high-end audio equipment.
  • Create and maintain a working inventory system to track maintenance schedules.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues efficiently under time-sensitive conditions.
  • Supervise and mentor the audio team, fostering a collaborative and productive environment.
  • Plan and execute system upgrades and improvements in collaboration with production management.
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols and industry best practices.
